no pics. What kind of motor?
You can crank on it to feel if theres compression, or do a compression check........

In one of the pics it looks like the kicker post is broken. I would ask for better pics of that.

it got cut off when they cut the frame up and the stator wires are cut too
but i have another motor that i was going to rob parts off of (like the kicker shaft and the stator

Few hours ay? I second the kicker notion, definently looks broken.
The only way Ill believe theres low hours on it, is if its been thrown around in a garage for a couple years, and left outside.
Hows he going to ask $500 for a motor, and not even clean it up?
I dont know man. I would ask for some better pics of it.
Good luck

Why did the cut the frame up?
And why so careless?
and is that $500 shipped?
With that kicker like that, its just convienent enough to not be able to check for compression........

i bet its one of the take out motors...thats why the frame and wires are cut....still dont explain the kicker shaft
I think the head gasket blew, and almost all of the oil came out. This caused it to
become seized. Then somebody tried to kick it over and broke the kicker shaft.
Looks like it has low hours on it,There are alot of things you can look for on the
outside of the motor.
I would offer $200

the motor is only an hour from my house so i was going to go pick it up and heres what the guy told me he stated that this motor came off a bike when they outlawed the sale of atcs and when he got it there was still a portion of the frame still bolted to it he offered to put a new kicker shaft in it and so far has been pretty up front with me i want a motor that will last and dont have to wrench on it every time i go ride

your rediculous if you think you can get a low hour 350x motor for that price. Look at them again. In the 8-1000's.

Here is what I say you do. Put the engine in gear and twist the sprocket with the decompression on. I think someone may be playing games with you. Why would they cut all the wires off with that condition ATC motor. That motor doesn't look like it has dammage from sitting. I say check it out. And if all else fails. Oh well. So many other motors out there.

Looks pretty nice to me. Just dirty. Go check it out. Look inside the intake and exhaust ports and pop one of the valve adjustment covers off and look for rust in case it might have been sitting outside. Hell, ask him to take the clutch cover off so you can get a good look at the condition of the motor.

I am in the process of building 2 350x engines. One is going to be pretty outrageous and the other is going to be mostly stock. The stock one's bottom end is a very low hour unit off of a parted out x. I bought all of the covers, flywheel, clutch, head, rocker assembly, and all other parts I will be needing off of ebay. I then bought a new piston and had the cylinder bored to it. My point is, the stock engine only is going to cost me about $600 to build, and I know what has been done to it. If you have the time you can find good parts cheap on ebay (just be careful who you deal with, ask for a gaurantee). If you are dead set on buying this engine, I would make the seller replace the starter shaft and stator and then offer a gaurantee (if he tells you to replace it, he can say you did not do it right and void the gaurantee).

THIS IS WHAT HE E-MAILED TO ME "Hey Robert I cranked it over with an impact wrench and it seemed to have plenty of compression. I'm willing to supply you with a new set of rings and a gasket set if it smokes, has low compression or any of that. Hopefully this eases your mind a little bit. I understand your concerns and will do everything in my power to help you out. Even though I'm selling this motor for a friend I can assure you that we don't sell any junk.If you have any more concerns just let me know. Talk to you later, Paul."
HES BEEN PRETTY FAIR SO FAR SO I DUNNO
