I've seen posts of xr200, 200x, 185s, 200s, and all those trikes having interchangable bolt in motors. I was wondering about the BIG RED 200 chain drive with the Hi/Lo auto tranny. I have a 200x, but have wanted a auto engine in it. Are those motors interchangable, and what are the weight differences in the motors? I also have a 185s. Would the BIG RED 200 motor fit in a 185? All these I'm talking about drop in/bolt in motors with no motor mounts cutting or customizing. Can this be done with the 200x or the 185? Please help.

I know you can throw the 185 engine in the 200x if that helps.. But from the way mine looks (big red 200e) it looks an awful lot like the same mounting system. why dont you just take a few simple measurements or just spend a couple hours swaping motors. i do believe they would all be interchangable with each other.

The starter motor ( 200e / 200m ) will hit the down tube on the 200x frame. So a direct bolt in won't happen.

Ok, so the 185 motor will drop into the 200x. Now onto the fun parts. I've been looking for some bore kits for either of the two, and the only ones I can find is 1mm overbore 10.5:1 powroll piston on the 200x, but I found a 3mm overbore 11:1 wiseco piston for the 185. Which piston will give the the most displacement thus giving me horsepower/torque? Will a 200x exhaust still work with the 185 motor in the 200x frame? If so, what pipe have you found to put out the most power? I'm not worried about noise, I have no neighbors.

Are there any other motors top ends that will fit onto the 185 or 200x bottem end to have more displacement?

A crf230 motor will fit perfectly into a 200x frame? or a 230 top end will fit on a 185 bottem end? I'll start a new thread on this topic.

If you dont mind the racing fuel, perhaps a 12:1 piston kit and a xr200 cam with a free flowing exhaust?that would work good....
