I'm getting a few 11:1 and 12:1 compression pistons for my atc185 and atc200x, and was told that they had to run on race gas 108 octane or higher. Is this true? and if so, where can I get this race gas in general? I you know of any places in or around philomath, oregon that would be great.

i had a 12:1 in a 85 x back in 1986 and it needed cam 2 ( 110 oct)
but i am running a 11.5:1 piston in my 350x right now and it runns on 93. but the thing is the 4 valve head flows better and runs cooler then the 200x so thats why i think the 200 needed it and my 350x dont

Probebly wont get you to the octain you need, but you can always mix up some premium and some octain boost. amsoil makes some good stuff, Ive also used Turbo 108. I dont know why, but i gotta run one of these in the raptor or it doesnt seem to run at peak.

in the winter i couldn't buy cam2 so i would mix octain boost with 93 like you said and it would ping like crazy...i even tryed to dump extra boost in it and it didn't help.
this was back when cam2 was $3.00 a gallon!!...lol

I got a quart of homeade cough syrup at the house right now... But really, you can get a permit to make alchohal only if it is for a vehicle or something like that. But you can't have any kind of police record. Or that is how it is in tennessee

I was talking to a gas deliver'er today, and he said he got race fuel (108 octane and higher) for his buddies sprint car at a place called Marc Neilson in Salem, Oregon. It's a 45min drive, but if I can take a few 5 gallon jugs, I won't have to go up as often.

When I put the 11:1 and 12:1 in my 185 and 200x will I have to run a hotter cam than stock?

This stuff works very well. You can boost your gas upto 16 full points with one quart. I run it in my yz490. My bike runs like crap without.

If a bike running a 10.5:1 compression piston or higher is running on regular 87 octane pump gas, will it run alright, but not want to idle? I bought my 200x from a neighbor who just had the top end rebuilt, but didn't know the specs on it. He was running 87 pump gas in it, so that's what I put in it. It runs good, but down't want to idle for very long. When I try to tune the carb to make it idle, at best, it will idle for 15 seconds then die out but it runs ok as far as I can tell. Could the low octane gas be the issue? Maybe?

Well you use to be able to buy it from the airport here but i guess u no longer can. I will have to talk to my buddies dad he races at woodburn with his camaro. There is one in Albany off of pacific hwy, The 76 gas station sells it! Alot of people go there to get fuel to race at Lebanon! I will check on a couple others and get back to ya!

Yes...you will want to run a higher octane fuel for sure...With the 12:1 wiseco piston kit I got it said that you should be running 104 or higher if I remember correctly. Now regarding where to get the fuel,it depends where you live...
