Hey all, first off i just want to say sorry for not being around much the past month, seams like it's just been one thing after another for me:rolleyes:

Anyway my 310R is bogging out top end pretty bad. The reason I just noticed this is because it's kinda hard to top out a machine that would hit 85mph.... (soon to be higher:twisted: ) The RR beds I ride arn't that smooth haha. Now that the lake is pretty well frozen and getting better every night I have the ability to open her up!!!

Soon after you shift into 6th the machine really starts to bog, it's so damn annoying cause you can just tell she has sooooooooo much more potential!!! So I have a 38mm mikuni TMX carb. with a 320 main jet now, should I go up or down?

P.S. Today I promise i'll go out and get some pics of the frozen lake :w00t:

my 250r's do the same thing, 6th gear is a hard pull. They all bog and 6th is kinda like an overdrive. Alot of 250r guys say that in 85/86 1st and 6th gear is useless, there is a reason why in 87 5th and 6th were changed to lower gears.

You may have geared it too high for the power, these things do top out eventually :D

Before you go leaner, do a plug chop from WOT with a new plug and inspect it. Make sure its not lean coughing before you go down on the main...

I was thinking the same thing Billy, it could go either way from the description.

I have no trouble getting front wheel high in 6th gear. Ive seen similar problem in 3-4 gear, carb was flooding.

well i'm running at 14/36 now soon to be 34 rear...... ChrisD runs at 15/33, and he may have 20cc's on me but still.....

Anyway I'll do a plug chop, gonna run to the honda dealer soon and grab that 34 sprocket, studs and new plug, and I need to get some race gas anyway....:w00t:

Gonna be HAULIN' ARSE this weekend!!! hahaha I'll be sure to grab some video for you guys!:beer

If it didn't do it when the weather was warm, odds are you're lean due to the cold air.

My R doesn't bog at all in 6th. I jet it in 6th gear wide open. It actually doesn't take a lot of effort to bring the front end up even in 6th on hardpack. Can't always pull 6th in the dunes but I jet it on hard pack usually.

Lean would be my guess with the cold weather. Glad to know that carb is still holding strong.

Listen to your motor young skywalker....just kidding

Watch this video....this is the 330 pulling 6th on the ice.

wait for me to turn around and pull all the gears. It should sound like that....that was with 15/33 gearing. My 250 turned it too, just got there slower.

If you are running lean, you will have little warning before it kills your motor. Listen for pinging or detonation.

If you are running fat, the motor will break up at top speed, kind of like you are about to kill a plug. If it's missing, chances are that it's running fat. If you are running the same jets as you do in the summer, then I would err on the side of caution and add more fuel and do a plug chop before you cook a motor.

Good luck.
