pop out your bulb and (assuming you know what is and how to use a micrometer) set it to I think continuity, its the one that when selected. You touch both the micrometers wires together and it gives you a max reading.

When you touch the wires to 2 parts of the bulb you will get a max reading. If you touch 2 ends together and it reads infinete that means theres infinite resistance between the bulb meaning its dead. Theres high and low so be sure to test both.

On my bike there is 2 contacts and the metal surrounding everything, that metal is ground and the 2 contacts are high and low.

I'm not good at splainin myself lucy buchew chud unastan.

in line fuse does nothing to the head light or tail light, thats there for the 12 volt power source, beeing your battery to protect from short outs.

your head light runs from the lighting coil in the engine. does the tail light work by any chance, because that runs off the same coil as your head light, if it comes on and your head light doesn't it will narrow the finding off the problem down, check the connector on the engine, i know mine have fallen off once or twice, ALSO theres a connector that connect the head light socket to the main harness, should be behind the head light it's self, check that to, Again mine has come undone there to.

oh ya check the switch..:)

Take the bulb out, put your multimeter on 12vdc check the voltage in the socket, if none there, check voltage going into the switch

i could also use a test light just to see if anything is getting there...

the tailight doesnt work either..

the light worked right when i got it once, after that it never worked agian... lol

uhlhazard you probably meant multimeter?  random strike i picked a multimeter up not too long ago for not a whole lot of beans.. worth the cash IMO.. you also might want to pick up some electrical parts cleaner spray at the parts store, i sure use mine quite a bit...

ya at this point in time a tester would help here, i'v rewired pretty much every bike or ski doo i'v owned. a multi meter (digital is better) comes in very handy. so does a test light.

"after that it never worked again"...hummm sounds suspicious to me, it sounds like a switch or wiring problem, the coil would be the last thing to check, because i'v put mine though the ultimate stress test and it's held up good

I knew it was one of those newfangled words "multimeter" you could pull a band-aid/kleenex and do like a few electricians I know and call it a "fluke" which rule btw.

Digitals rule btw, but I prefer a cheapie analog over a cheapie digital.

Probably worth its weight in gold.

God, you think your headlight problems are bad, lets see...

my starter doesnt get voltage, the solenoid doesnt get voltage, the starter relay doesnt get voltage, but the neutral indicator, tail and head lights all work. lol. Ooh and my ignition has 3 positions, put it on lights and it kills it, put it on run and NO HEADLIGHTS! DOH gonna cross compare parts between my 200 and 225 see what I can come up with. Good luck!
