Im on a road trip right now to pick up another Tiger. This one is a 200. The owner had a 250 but sold it. Im getting the 200 plus the 250 engine and some spare parts. The owner is trying to track down the 250 roller for me. When I get back home in Iowa I'll post pics and info.

18 hours roundtrip. I just got home a hour ago. The trip was good, but not as good as it could have been. I may be going back to get the other tiger. What I got though is one complete 200 minus fenders. I still dont have any fenders!!! The 200 was taken apart and laying everywhere. I'm pumped to get it!!! Also I got a complete 250 engine with the deal. Thats the engine out of the missing one. I'll go into more detail later. Heres a couple of pics. Again sorry for the bad camera

My plan with this Tiger is to steal parts from it to make my 250 complete. The stuff I need to complete my 250 are, Brakes, master cylinders, radiator, front rotor, and coil/cdi. I was going to buy these things new, but now I have them. What do you guys think I should do?

You are doing the right thing.....sometimes with the TIGERS you have to rob Peter to pay Paul.....completing one is the right and best thing at the sacrifice of another basket case

I am going to keep the 200 engine, but I can still get this pretty far along with the major hard to get parts that I have. Ive got three extra 250 engines minus misc electronic parts. What would be a honest not inflamed selling price for this tiger with a 250 engine, no brakes, no fenders, everything else complete, but needs resto?

The tigers I've looked at seem to mostly have this second version of front forks. I thought my first ones were mostly used. Any info anybody?

Last one like that on ebay got roughly 900.00..( I printed and saved the auction as I do with all tiger auctions when they come along once or twice a year TOPS)...200xbasket case sold it....All of us TIGER collectors have our PVC rejects ( I have two good sets of all original) heres my rejects

I dont think any of mine have those newer version of forks.....In the tiger factory picture that was posted a while back they had those newer version forks AND a slightly different shape tank than all of the ones I have...That means more TIGERS in the factory pic need to be found!!!
EDIT: Maybe one set is I will check in the am

I will get THe plastics eventually. it is at a stand still right now waiting on the mold maker. I may make the #$%@ mold myself as I did this many many yrs ago it is not hard just takes time

good news, I just had a phone call about the other Tiger. Bad news, they chopped it up and put a street bike engine in it. But... they blew that engine up, and they are going to round up all the remaining Tigers parts and call me. I'll keep updates on that nightmare..what a waste of a great trike.

Hey if you are not interseted in the other Tiger, I need the sprocket, disc and wheel hubs, also 2 rotors. I could even call about just these items and pay to have them shipped. Let me know

I noticed between my two Tiger the steering stem is different, one is a one piece tube and the other is narrow in the center.

01-27-2007, 12:07 AM
No, I'm going to hopefully get the stuff shipped. I'll keep you updated on what I get. Another thing, I just won a ebay auction on a front lever/master cylinder front caliper combo. This will work on the tigers. I got it for 10.00 plus shipping.

These 2 frames necks look the same, but have not had time yet to compare. I did notice that the 2 tanks look the same but where they fit around the neck they are a little different. I will try and take some more pics tommorow and note some differences.
iowarotax
01-27-2007, 12:19 AM
Heres the 2 tanks. Notice how the shape by the neck is a little different. I know its hard to see with my great camera. I'm getting a better one tommorow.
iowarotax
01-27-2007, 12:53 AM
I was just looking at the 2 frames side by side. There is at least a dozen different little things from frame to frame. The biggest dif I saw was it looked like the angle of the main frame tube that the tank mounts to. It looks like one is raked at a slightly steeper angle. Also alot of the gromet and mount holes are diff sizes.

One of the rear rims that came with this is really got a bad dent in edge of the rim. Is there any way to repair a bent rim? Also, has anyone put other rims on these tiger hubs? If so, what brand and size cross-over?

Check this out. I was going through some parts tonight and I noticed the difference in the shock mount area. The one has a extra piece of steel to reinforce that area. The blue swingarm is off the 200. The red is the 250. The red one seems to be a built slightly stronger than the other. What do your Tigers have?
Orangecnty250r
01-28-2007, 10:50 AM
Some of my swings are different as well......Thats the beauty of the TIGERS, not straight assembly line production....Every one seems to be unique in some way even if very small.

I looked for numbers on my Tiger frames last night. I found nothing on the 250, but I found 036 on the 200 frame. My 250 has been sandblasted, so I dont know if it disapeared or was never there.

What shock do you guys think I should put on the 250 I'm restoring? The Works or the Fox with the remote res. I'm going to keep the 250 for sure. I think the Works shock looks the best, but like the look of the remote res on the Fox. Also which is the better performing shock?

Ive been doing a little research on the different ignition systems for the Tiger engines. There was three different systems used. The first and as I can tell the most popular was the Bosch. The second was the Motoplat. The third was called Kokusan. I have 3 Bosch, and one Kokusan. My other engines dont have anything right now. I think most tiger engines had the Bosch, But I would be interested to get some feedback from other tiger owners on what they have.
erectordale
02-02-2007, 05:55 PM
the 500's use the koukasan and I have 4 engines with the motoplat. 5 with the bosch both 200 and 250's used the moto-plat
iowarotax
02-03-2007, 07:53 PM
Ive heard from can-am people that the older motoplat ignitions will give more RPMS than the other two. Does anyone know if that is fact or not?
