how do you get paint to stick, or stay on a plastic gas tank? the guy a few houses down use to have a 85 tecate 3, and his tank was painted, it didn't last very long. it just kept chipping and peeling till it was down to the yellow plastic. supposably it was a paintable plastic tank??

the trick is to get the tank as clean as hell use degreasers the right prep on the tank helps then i used a good plastic primer to make sure the paint will stick good.let it sit and cure the right way and it should be good to go. if you do it right the first time you wont have to do it twice. i learned that from restoring cars.

ok here it is so far,im uncertain about the look of things. maybe the back fender throws things off maybe the seat cover anyways im just playing around with it for now i have my parts coming so with a new front and back fender things will change. i feel like arnie cuntingham from the movie christine ahahahhaa'' whatever i paid for her was not enough.

Those low profile rears make the early tecates looks plain. A new set of 86s will make it look wild and more stout. You'll love the look.

good luck on the project. Always nice to see someone excited about the old kawis. The old school tecates were my favorite growing up and always wanted a Jimmy White look alike with hoosiers and all.

On another note:

When you and scooteroo gets those kawis running strong. Maybe we should hook up. I am in Pittsfield MA often for family reasons. You are probably only 45 minutes from there. I could bring out my tri-z sometime.

Nice seatcover! Going to really use it? hehe

You should pick up a green 250R style front fender off BigBore on the boards!!!

Your rear wheels are aftermarket, cool.
