I am starting a Tecate Project, I am mainly starting from just buying parts because most of the parts will be newer or updated parts, I have a frame and soon will have the frontend and All Suspension. I am building my 250r's brother:naughty: :naughty: :naughty: so the same stuff will be done, extended swingarm, axles, Modified Engine.

What some of my questions are is, where can I find a extended Aluminum Swingarm for a 86-87 Tecate, will the quad version fit with any mods??? Or do I need to custom make one? My 250r has a 12" over Swingarm that is chromed and I hate chrome casue it chips and sometimes rusts so I want a Aluminum one.

also I dont think the quad version of the engine will fit in the 3 wheeler because of the counterbalancer correct?

also is there anywhere that you can buy a New gas tank or just OEM if they still make them?

Very excited to be doing another project, its been 4 years since my 85 250r project and I learned some hard lessions and this one should be smoother.

Thanks
Tyler

Quad motor won't fit. Not sure on the swingarm.

Swingarm is gonna be a custom piece.

Don't think tanks are available anywhere.

Possibly if you have tons of time, money, and fabricating skills.

Finding stuff for 86 T3s is not fun but not impossible either. Honda stuff is way easier to come by.

I suggest you make a swingarm. Here is a link to a Westcoast swingarm on ebay that I believe it is aluminum, for an 84-85, and extended like 2 inches. Just watch how much it sells for: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200075617042

You can put a KX500 motor in the 86/87 Frame with little more than custom motor mounts at front and for head stay and a notch in the cross brace for the spark plug. Fabbing up an extended swingarm/shock setup/ dif style carrier setup for this would kick ass.

I believe pre 1996 KX250 motors would fit well too.

If you still use the T3 axle carrier then good luck finding an extended axle. One guy said he used a 400ex axle with 350X hubs.

Post a want ad in the classifieds and the guys who have T3 stuff to sell will surely want to help you out.

I have no experience with the suggestions I mentioned on your build but I do own two T3s and have not found many answers on this site regarding swingarms/ axles/ motor swaps/ and parts that interchange for T3s.

Why would you buy used OEM stuff if you knew how to make more modern parts work? Knowledge is power.

that is a hard machine to find aftermarket parts for.

I "think" DG is remaking the pipe. i used a FMF 87 kx250 pipe on mine.
the 85-87 kx250 engines are the same externally. the trannys are different.

there is a guy on this site that makes swingers in any length for these. i would have him make one that fits a 250r axle.

i had a +2 calfab on mine and it was still a wheely machine.

i had a kx250 rad valve, kx 250 pipe, ninga 750 rear brakes, kx250 electrical, kx500 carb, some porting, and other little stuff.....

BTW i got the 200x tank $$$ today.

I was thinking about staring an interchangeability thread for the T3 like the TriZ one I saw.
