well i saw the x with a cooler now that i think of it i want one too. mainly because its bored 2mm with a 200x cam, and 12:1 compression. i change my oil every other ride. well back to what i was asking. does anyone know where to drill the holes on my 84 200s for the lines? i have never done this whole oil cooler thing before. i need all the help and advice i can get. i really need this cooler.

That's a 'cool' idea. hehe, sorry, I couldn't pass it up.
Will the oil pump have enough pressure to pump the oil through the cooler? External pump? Another thing to think off, because of the lack of a good filter on a 200S, is an external oil filter in the external lines. You know, have a small spin-on filter mounted up on the frame somewhere. Probably would have to protect it with some expanded metal or something.

where could i get a external oil pump and how would i go about hooking it up. if i decide to go threw with this could someone drill it out for me? im not to good at drilling straight. knowing my luck i would drill rite threw the case and destroy it.

if the stock pump wasnt strong enough we would of had problems doing this in the 80s when the bikes were new

but i herd that the 200s pumps are weaker than the 200x pumps. if that is not true i should be ok but if its true im going to have problems.

You shouldn't need external pump. the stock pump should be fine.

your drilling into the oil passage......start with a small bit and you will feel it when you hit the passage

ok cool sounds easy enough i guess. now another question is how do i tap it? the only taps i have are tappers at the ends. and if the hole aint deep enough it wont tap to the rite size.

well ok i decided im going to do it. now will it be easier and cheaper to buy a 120.00 kit or "make" my own "kit".

which port do i have to drill the holes into for the lines and set screw?

i won my oil cooler. i will be taking the lines off it and adapting it down to a smaller size line. i picked this cooler because it is the perfect size. i think i can get it to work.

now my question to you guys is what size lines should i run? i was thinking either 1/4 or 3/8. i wanna keep the lines small to keep the oil pressure up where it should be. the other reason i want to keep them small is because i herd from a few people that the pumps in the 200s is not very good or have enough to pump oil to a cooler.

350x lines are real close to 3/8 so thats what id use
your pump looks different then a 200x pump but it pumps the same

so my 200s pump should be able to pump the oil up to the cooler? ive never herd of someone putting a cooler on a 200s. just 200x and up threw the "better" trikes.

I've got a Lockhart cooler on my atc110, it's a stroker engine, but it still works. I have the instructions on how to do the 185\s\200\s cases but my camera wont take decent enough pictures of the instructions to be posted. Basically what the instructions say is you have to have 3 holes. The middle of the 2 holes is drilled and tapped all the way through the oil passage. This is to block off that passage and force the oil travel through the outside 2 holes. The outside 2 holes cannot be drilled any deeper than the oilpassage or it will disrupt the flow of oil. You need to be very careful drilling these 2 holes. It gives a depth and says you should mark on your drill bit or use a drill bit stop so the drill will go no deeper. The depth is 7\16 deep.

I also have the measurements for the drill and tap sizes and what sizes of fittings that are put into the passageways if you need them. I am at work right now and won't have access to that info until later in the morning if you need it.
