Hey guys among other things i'd like to replace the axle bearings in the rear end of my 350x i just picked up, i was wondering if i will need special tools to take it apart and get the axles off. Any input from past experience would be greatly appreciated so i can get the tools i need before i start the job. Thanks in advance, TC...

Welcome to the Board! :welcome: You won't need any special tools. The large nuts on the axle are reverse threads. You may need to heat the bearings to get them out? Do a seach this is a common question. Get a hold of a service manual and you will be all set.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info i was hoping i wouldn't need any special tools. I got the manual on CD with the machine so i'll check that out, if i need to heat or press the bearings out i can do that at the machine shop i work at. Is there anything tricky to getting the shaft out of the housing? I've been browsing the board for a while and finally decided to join now that i got the X and plan to start making it a better than average bike but i still plan to ride it all the time...

Thanks again, last year i bought the R and a very clean 200x but i'm 6'2" and the 200 was a little small for a long ride so i decided a 350 was right up my alley. I love the R too but i really dont ride it much due to the higher maintenance that is required, i hope the X is a fire up and ride kind of machine like my 200 was...
