View Full Version : What kind of helmet do you have?

I have four but only wear the two end ones which are Thor SVR's.

The other two are just collectables, I especially like the NJL breakaway that came with it's own snap on goggles and a pretty :naughty: decent drawing painted on the back. It's from 86, new old stock.

The Shoei is from 98, been worn but real nice. In this day and age with all the paint jobs making helmets look so busy, I like the plainess of it and that's why I got it.

Amazing how the Shoei is smaller on the outside then these newer helmets but is just as comfortable on the inside. I sort of like how the nose piece does not protrude out so far like on newer helmets, including the Thors I have.

So, let me see what you have !! :beer

there must be at least one other person here who at least owns a helmet. I have seen a lot of goofy pictures of riders with no head gear on this site though so who knows!!

I dont have any pics of mine, its an 95 model answer M7 wich at the time cost me an arm and a leg, it works fine for me and see no reason to change, until I dump it so bad it cracks.

I collect Bell moto 4's

They get a good buck for them, the other ones 3,5,6 too!

Actually I forget all what numbers they had? I had the 3 & 4 version at one time.

Any :pics: of yours?

I've got an Arai that is about 5 years old. The first picture and last picture is from when it was brand new in 02. It doesn't look anything like that now. Tons of scratches and a few gouges down past the surface finish. Haspin clayment has permanently stained it a light orange color. It'll never recover

Arai VX-Pro 3. It's like slipping a Lexus on your head.

Once you go Arai you'll never go back!

Mines a VX series I'm almost sure, not sure what particular model but I definitely have to agree. Definitely the lightest, and most comfortable helmet I've ever used. The ability to open and close the air vents its also really nice.

A helmet is just like boots when it comes to fit, what may fit you perfect, the next guy may come along and think it sucks.

Arai makes some nice helmets though. They had a few strange ones in their time too where the peripheral view openings were so small on them. I can't remember what model(s) that was though?

I have a street bike helmet and I can't tell a bit of difference when I close and open the vents, not that all helmets are that way but how is yours, can you tell?

Its not a big difference with the vents, but when its extremely hot Florida summer outside (100+)I can definitely feel it. And yes, thats a helmet camera. Theres some footage in the local riding forum from the last flat track race.

Plain white, like i said before , I like, I like! I compared the difference one day, temp wise on shell, to my freinds black one, a BIG difference!! I'll never wear a black helmet in the hot summer heat, then again I won't ever own a black helmet so I guess there is no need to worry.

I just won ($21.80) this NOS Shoei minutes ago, it's from the 80's.

Pretty nice I think!!

HEY Bill, what's all involved with your particular helmet cam? I asked before on another site years ago, don't remember much.

How do you down load, well can you explain the whole set up to me, from filmimg to downloading it or what ever? maybe make a fresh "Helmet Cams" post? I didn't do a search yet, maybe that was discussed (numerous times) already?

Hey MO dx, how are you doing? Are you still in contact with that powder coat guy? Does he sand blast too? I have a few small ATC parts I'd like done in gloss black if possible.

Back to the helmets ..........HEY, I think when helmets get old even though they look just fine the actual shell may have lost some of it's strength.

I took a 10 year old helmet to R & D once for a part and they just  laughed at me and said they think it's time I get a new one. It got me thinking and in a week I had a new one, maybe it's time for you too?

You will also look more fashionable
