I can't say i've seen this done before. Does it have enough stuff to spool it up well or is more just one of those yeah i tried it deals? If its anything like a turbo on a car you might want to watch out for melting foam under the boys too...

looks ok

are you going to put oil to the turbo? it wont last long without oil.

curious to see how it runs, thought about this myself.

i doubt the turbo will get very hot running low boost

You can see the oil line running straight to the turbo.

DUde it loooks gross but pretty sick, now you need to get a vid of it revving up and blow off valve blowing, and then one of you riding it.!!!!!!

Engineering at it's finest right there :beer Great job!

Now if I could only get motivated to do this set up on my race car I too can be turbo'd but with V8 power instead

what turbo did you use? what carb? man we need stats.

it's a subaru vf33 primary turbo from a legacy, have only had one proper ride on the beach so far and it's running too lean.it gets bloody hot under there!think a heatshield under the seat would be a good move.not sure if it's spooling up fully at the mo(ii didnt rev it very hard on the test run) but its whistling away under there(very pleasing noises!)..re jetting this week, currently its using a suzuki gn250 carb with a 135 jet, then stronger valve springs so i can rev it harder and spool it up.not sure if i should hook up the blowoff valve?because the carby is on the outside of the turbo the blowoff valve will be venting fuel air mix not fresh air!hopefully i'll get it all running sweet and i'll post a video of a run.

nice!! my uncles has a subaru with a turbo in it in his junk yard. maybe just maybe i will get it off him. definitely something for me to look at. tou did one hell of a job man i love it.. i cant wait to see and hear it in action.

I was going to Say not to use the BOV. Using a blow though you don't need a Bov, when you close the carb it can't get air, so you don't have the pressure build up. How much boost are you running? And venting air and gas would just be a bad idea.
But sick setup. To bad the microsqurt is not out yet.

cool to see a gasser turboed... my buddies over at Imaginative Creations in St. Pete built a deisel turbo trike from a klt 110 frame and a yanmar L60 and it is a torque monster and you really have to hold on, i'll post pics when we get it back together

suggestion.. if your going to have a sleeper style bike, you should DEFINATELY use a chain driven bike, especially if your pumping out some power... buy your self a 200m if you want the sleeper style and stuff, also the top end is the same as your bike so you shouldnt have to rejet or anything, just pop on your turbo and carb, and itll be just like your current bike. frames are very very similar as well. trust me youll be thanking me that you spent a few hundred bucks to get a 200m, i see them sell for a few hundred on ebay all the time, great bikes as well. shaft driven for a bike that your trying to get speed out of is GARBAGE.

84honda200s
03-07-2007, 12:25 AM
get a 200m or a 200s lol or get a 200x. that would kick butt a turbo powered 200x. hell i want to see someone make a twin turbo 350x. we could call it atc 350xtt.

not too worried about getting serious power out of it,just want to see how it'll go like this.re jetting carby today so should have a decent video in the next week ish.as for serious power i've got a serious itch to buy up a big 4 cylinder jap bike, slap a trike rear end on it,get some wide triple tree's made up and turbo that!!where i live is 50 metres from the beach and at low tide i have about 20km's of flat hard sand to play on(i live not far from where burt munroe did)..high speed sand dragger is next on the list.anyone got any good ideas?engines, frames, things learnt from experience etc?...cheers,Rory

lol why go threw all that? just go o out and get your self a totaled bosa turbo edition and put 2 wheels on the back. no turbo fab work needed its already there.

when i say a bosa turbo edition i mean one like this guy has.

more air into the engine. as you get more air you need more fuel more fuel and air equals more power. we all know what more power can do.

ok for real turbo gives you the edge in races. well unless you really suck and dont know how or when to shift. did you watch the video ? i havent seen a 200 move like that in a while. that thing hauls butt with out him pushing it.

great job man i love it so much im planing on doing it too.

putting a turbo on a 200 is like putting a $200 bikini on a 400 pound girl, just because it fits doesnt mean it looks good. Or fast in this case.
you can tell ive never rode a 200 like tht because it looked to me like an atc70 would be faster than that thing

lol he just needs to get it all dialed in. give the guy a break. not to mention its shaft driven not sprocket. i bet you it will still fly though. it just needs some kinks worked out probably. on a side note you can never ever compare a trike to a fat chick. a moped yea a trike no way.

I give the guy alot of credit for being creative.

Not too many people would even attemp it, and yes it's a hardtail. But, he's the one on the beach having a good time.....

Would it be better if he cut it up and parted the rest on EBAY?

At least he's trying to keep a 20yo machine alive.

I like it :w00t:

here is the deal with turbos. ive played with them a couple times and decided it wasnt worth the money to try it at thispoint in my life. first of all, almost ALL automotive turbos with a very few rare cases of this not being true, use oil pressure and the shaft that joins the turbines rides on oil exactly like a crankshaft in a automotive engine, no oil=destruction. now on the other hand you could run an electric oil pump =$$$ AND there are two types of seals for auto turbos dynamic and carbon, if you use a turbo with a dynamic seal (which almost all are) it will leak oil out the exhaust side inside, given you put thought into the turbo and filled it with oil before you plugged it. the dynamic seal requires oil pressure for a positive seal whereas carbon seal just ride there with spring pressure. to do a turbo system correctly, you need an aerocharger style turbo, they use sealed ball bearings and a carbon seal. if you ever see a turbo bike especially a turbo harley, it will be a sealed ball bearing carbon seal turbo, not automotive style. using a auto turbo has been done and done effectively, they work just as good, its just more of a pain. aerocharger style turbos are really hard to find at a decent price. i just wanted to let everyone know this stuff before you go buying turbos of of old VW's and trying to bolt them on your big reds, total destruction will ensue. if you do decide to try this use a junker like this guy that you dont care if it throws a rod, because there is a 50/50 chance you either suck something in or it bends something. lol, im not knocking this pice of art, im just warning everyone. :-)

i have a turbo off a seca 650 (xj650) i was going to use on my 350x before it was stolen.

you have to be realistic about turbocharging motors that are so small. it would take 10psi+ to post a 50% gain in hp. which on that 200 50% gain is what 5 or 6hp? yes it makes a difference when it only makes 12hp in the first place, but i doubt he will see a 50% gain, that turbo is too big for that motor and I think he would be suprised if he put a boost gauge on it, to improve on stock power levels most of the time you would need over 4psi (to overcome the exhaust restriction).

put a boost gauge on it, see if its actually making any pressure or not
