dirty carb?

Heres a funny one for all of you. i'll keep it short and skip the story. My bike idle's great on a flat surface, but when i start to climb a hill or back up a hill or go down a hill she will die. if i ride on a smooth and not so hilly trail she's perfect. so i got home lifted up the front end of the bike while it was going and wouldn't you know it the darn thing died. Two things i can come up with here. It's some thing that moves inside the bowl, 1: the needle valve, 2: the floats. now i did have my carb off for 3 weeks while the engine was being rebuilt, and there forth was moved around alot. i'm thinking dirt. so while i'm at work i'll let you guys pick at this problem too:p

My dads 250sx did the same thing right after the top end was replaced. When he went up or down a hill it would die. The carb was rebuilt and it went away.
