Ok, so the ad says it's a "1986 Yamaha tri moto 200". Of course, I think we can all point out the fault in that one. Here's the pic suplied in the listing:

What year/model 200 could it be? I am thinking it isn't a 225....but I could be wrong, as I have no experiances with older utility type yamahas at all.

225 was shaft drive, 200 was chain drive. 225 had a rear shock 200 didnt stock unless its a rear suspension kit.

i cannot see the pic

other easy ways to tell is just look on bikepics.com when your unsure of somthing.

It is a Yamaha YTM200 (chain drive, pull start, front suspension only). They were made from 1983-1985, but there are very few differences between the years. Judging by the decals I would say it is an '83.

yep thats a tri moto 200. 225's has black plastic gaurds down at the rear fenders.

you could always try yamahas web site and look at decals to get the right year.

Its a 1984 tri moto 200. (judging by decals) The decal is "C" shaped around the outline of the tank, not L shaped like the 83's.

They did make 225's in 86, they had lightning bolt decals I cant remember if Ive seen an 86 200, dont think so though.

I thought it was the other way around, the 83 tank decal has the thick/short stripe that runs along the bottom of the tank and the 84 has a think/longer stripe.

Sorry. listen to fox, haha, he knows everything about 200 chains ;)
