Well, I vowed that I would only sell my 85 if it was to upgrade to something else. Since I sold her a few days ago, I figure its time for a new one  . Ive shown these pics on here before I think, but would like to know what you guys think and how much you would pay, one last time before I go look at it tomorrow. I guess the trike needs nothing, brakes are good, motor runs great, no smoke, doesnt leak, even has the original tires on it...

I have seen trikes like this sell for $700-800... If they dont wanna pay $600... Wish them luck finding something else to ride... IMO not many trikes are worth over $1200... Mint condition coolant bottles and warning labels dont impress me much, good mechanical condition does... and that cannot be shown in pictures...

Dammit!

Looks like a good amount of rust (make sure you check the inside of that tank). Silencer has to be rigged up because that is definitely not a trike silencer. Brake lever is bent pretty good. Needs nothing? Don't count on it.

yea man look at it close. as it sits with out seeing it in person i would say 600.00-800.00 but if i went there and all was good i would say about 1000.00 give or take.

Oh I can see it. It isnt pretty. What I meant when I said mechanical condition were things like timing chains, rings, clutch, cables, brake pads, chain/sprockets, suspension, pivot bearings, etc... Those expenses add up quick...A guy could buy/build a $1800 machine and have it appear much worse after just one good rollover... Or have a complete POS with some new paint and fenders. Both could be very decieving in photos... I would have to touch, see, and hear the machine before trully deciding what it was worth to me. A rusty dent and a rigged exhaust doesnt make it junk IMO...

oops... I just realized procarbine2k1 is a potential buyer of this machine...I had thought he was the seller asking what a good price was... Sorry if I didnt make much sense...

I would just play the game with him, ask what he wants, if its too much then start pointing out things wrong with it, I mean it is a 20+ year old bike, you take a chance on older equipment, make a reasonable offer. I think 800 -1500 is reasonable. Then again if it was the machine I always wanted and had the money I would go more. Depends on what you want and how bad you want it.

Im on the same page as you cr480r! I mean, from the pics you can see little stuff but I cant really have an idea of what kind of shape its in until I look at it. Im buying it from an older pastor, so I dont think hes out to rip me or anything. I plan on just from the pics, having the tank refinished (if the inside is clean, if not a clarke), new tires, fitting a supertrapp exhaust or buying a dg, and having the seat recoverd my moshman. I have a good feeling about the mechanics of this trike, despite a couple smaller things but Ill be sure to give it the go around when I look at it. If I can get it less than 600, I think I can have a VERY nice 86 for around 1100. The first thing that will go is that hideous pipe contraption hanging off the back. Thanks for the help/comments guys.

i see discoloration around the fork tubes, could be an old unattended fork seal thats been blown for 10 years and never fixed

if you want a nice machine as you say then remember.......

mechanical problems are FAR cheaper than cosmetic ones......

good luck, chisel him down...........hard

Wow, if you call that a POS then mine must have been the junkiest trike ever! And i guess that $200 for my running 200x was a rip off?...

That 200x dosent look bad at all. That could clean up to look pretty good compared to what mine looked like, everything was rusted, stained, or dry rotted.

The age old question, how much is something worth? As I see it, whatever $$$ you are willing to pay and it makes you happy that you have what you want.

I would imagine if anyone who frequents this board owned it, they would never part with it for what they are telling you to offer this guy. Billy Bob a couple posts up is giving you good advice, ask him what he wants and go from there.

In indiana and surrounding areas, they go CHEAP.
Here's my first trike I bought a couple years ago, paid $300 for it:

i know what your saying. when i said look at it close i ment go there and start it and ride it and so on before judging. the only time i bought something with out looking at it was when i got my trike off e-bay. but i only payd 150.00 for it.but i had it brought it here and cleaned the carb and it fired rite up.

I'd pay $700ish $800 tops. I've done alot of shopping in the last few months. Started looking for a 200x, ended up buying a 86 350x for $1150. If he is firm on $1000, spend the extra 200 and get a 350x. My .02

I see someone linked to that 87 by me. I don't know the guy, but If you are interested I'll help you out!
