$400 ????? holy crap!!

A friend of mine has his ytm 200e over at my garage doing some work to it.
The rear differential is shot. An atv salvage yard told him $400.00 for the part!
could this be right or are we nuts?
He's about to part it out and its in perfect condition other than the differential.

A good 250SX diff is well worth 150 to 250$. A Yamaha diff might just be that much harder to find, he is a bit high though...

That is right on for a salvage yard price; luckily they don't go bad very often in the Yamaha's so you should be able to find one much, much cheaper from someone else. Check here, ebay, also email sellers who are parting out machines on ebay and ask if they have that part specifically even if it is not listed at the time. A lot of salvage yards use the standard 50% off new for used prices, even if the market does not support the prices.

He's actually getting a pretty good deal on that...yamaha rear ends up here go for average 700$ straight from under the machine no testing or guarantees.

What part does he need? I got a friend that has a stash of that stuff.

Is it the reverse model? If so I have at least 2 of them lying around and a few 225s too.
