i just put a 89trx motor in my 250r. and the clutch is not disengaging all the way my old 86atc motor had the same problume so i opened it up and there was a missing washer .put that in and still Fed up. my question is r there any tipacale problumes with the clutches in the 250r .and if so what r they

could be a number of problems bad cable, cable not lubed, cable pinched, not adjusted right. try all of those and see what happens. is your clutch hard to pull? that could be it to if it hard to pull your not pullin it in all the way. get an ex pull clutch lever kit that helped mine clutch out to. it started to disengaged afte i put that on. but first try all the above and then see what happens.

just put a new clutch cable on it and it is pulling in all the way thats not whats going on. i jess i need to open it up.but on the last motor i opened up every thing look great i cant figure it out

well if your gonna open her up id check there. people can talk all they want but its not always true...... believe non of what you hear and half of what you see....

the out side of the motor looked very nice and the bike the guy parted out was in premo condishion but he might of put it in fed up

the most noteable problem with them is the baskets groove badly.make sure your outer basket is not grooved on the fingers,or tabs in that hold the carbon fiber disks.

Agreed. The only real possibility is a grooved clutch basket, or running differential gear lube or something like that. Sorry guys, but there is no way a cable problem will not let your clutch disengage provided the lever pulls, unless the cable is broke.

The clutch pivot itself where the cable attaches wears out where the pushrod presses against it and the plates won't seperate as much as they need to. It does sound like a grooved basket (there all grooved) but I'd check out the clutch pivot lever too. When you have it apart just pull it up and out of the left case.
