Showing off my Tri-Moto......

Hey everyone, great site!

Just thought I'd say hi and start off by showing off my 85 YT125. No, it's not a show piece (although it could be somewhat easily ;) ), but I've put a lot of work into her since I bought her back in October.

Picked it up in the hills of Pennsylvania as a parts unit on ebay for $125, running. However, most of the trike had been hillbilly'd together, including the head, which had oversize SAE bolts rammed down in it in an attempt to make the head gasket seal, which it did (sort of).

A lot of work to get to this point, the jug's been bored oversize (3mm?), and it's set up with front and rear racks, a trailer hitch, new front tire, seat cover, Moose thumb buddy, and yes that is actually a license plate you see on the back :D

If I can't find any more things to add on, this summer I'll do the cosmetics. Had it out today a few times just up and down the street for kicks, it was a beautiful day!

Really nice! I just bought an 86 (I think so anyway) 175 Tri Moto 2 stroke. I just wished it looked as good as yours!

From what I know, 82-85 will definitely interchange. One thing I'm keeping my eye out for is a YT175 front end as they are sprung as opposed to just being hard forks.

The one thing I was worried about was mounting the rear rack, wondering if it would give enough clearance to mount/dismount the rear fender, and it sneaks right underneath nicely :)

The only thing I have left to do on it is to get a better idle adjustment. Right now I have to adjust the idle with the throttle cable, and I don't like that......my problem is that the screw for the idle goes right underneath the throttle basket, instead of pushing it up. The carb was one of the more screwy things on the bike as the choke hardware was missing, and for this trike, it is NOT standard Mikuni fare. The choke slug holder in the carb is an 11mm 1.0 thread pitch, and exclusive to Yamaha. I got lucky and got the balance of my carb parts from an ebay seller that was parting his trike.

To come, I want to get a rack pack of some sort, and I think that's going to about do it. I had considered picking up a wheelie, but with all of the stuff bolted on back there, there's not a lot of room for another accessory. Besides which, it's not like with a 125 it has head snapping torque :D

But, it's perfect for where and how I ride :TrikesOwn

Looks like you have a fun little machine; I really like the front rack you have. I have found that front racks work great because they act like a bumper/grab bar/tie down point more often then a rack.

Been searching on ebay all winter, and finally came up with them :)

There's a guy on ebay that has the YT125 trailer hitches, which go together nice, but have the WORST possible instructions.
