View Full Version : Quick question (ordering fork seals from service honda)
Dammit!

When you order a "fork seal set" from service honda, does that come with everything you need to do both forks? Or by "set" do they mean it includes just one seal, one dust cap and one circlip (meaning you need to order two "sets")?
In other news, I went to my storage unit today, opened the door and found a HUGE puddle of oil under my 250R and a puddle of gas under my 250sx. Luckily the oil was from a waste container that sprung a leak and not the R. Scared the crap out of me for a second. PITA to clean up too.

One oil seal, one dust seal. Enough to do one fork. The snap rings and washers are not included in the kit. Nor or are any of the bushings (Which should also more then likely be replaced)

You are. You are using Honda seals so you only have to do the job once!

Aint that the truth, them aftermarket seals last about half of one good ride.

Lets see now. I needed an o-ring to fix the petcock leak in the 250sx. I hate ordering one little thing from service honda because it still ends up being like 7 bucks to ship it so I started thinking of other things I need like forks seals. So far I'm up to a $127 order. I think I might have to scale back a little.

Are those the seals on the SX forks? Is that SX running now, you use it much?

No I'm looking at 200x and 350x fork seals. The 250sx doesn't appear to be leaking yet.
It's 90% back together. I don't have the seat back yet so I can't ride it. The front end still looks crooked to me but I can't quite tell if it's just the fender being goofy or if something is still bent or what. Can't say that I care much regardless. I just want to ride it. I don't care if it's perfect right now. Maybe someday down the road if it earns a place in the long term stable I'll throw a 200x front end on it.

Same thing happens to me. I need one little part but figure while I'm at it I better make sure there isn't any other OEM part I need. So I go to the garage and but my eyes on every part of each Honda---->yeah, that rubber dohicky is getting old, that bolt has seen better days, and on and on. Next thing I know I'm ordering $100+ worth of parts.
Damn hobbies.

Even more luckily the puddle of gas didn't ignite and burn the whole complex and two ATC's to the ground!:(

Yeah that would have sucked. My insurance probably would have given me a whopping $600 for my 250R.
