The Mojave actually weighs as much as a Warrior, I believe (read it in an ATV Action shootout from 2000), which makes it a little slow compared to the Blaster and 300EX they were comparing it to, even though it's got higher compression and liquid cooling (and 4 valves per cylinder, I believe).

Mojave 379lbs vs Warrior 397lbs..

I bet its a stong little motor as is. I'm thinkin about putting one in a Tecate frame for the g/f as apposed to the 250 two stroke she has now. Then I'll build the same for myself but with a bigbore 330 motor. Won't be the fastest top end machine but like that vid shows it'd be tough.

Reverse is a major plus! As well as the reliabilty of those old tech fourstroke motors.

The sprockets wont line up unless the motor is offset to the right a whole bunch...

That mojave in the video is far from stock... For the price of making one run like that you could buy a running 350X...

Really?? Aww man that sucks a $ $, was stoked about doing that for her.

I know its a 370, mine wouldn't be that far out there. A 330 with some port work and a bigger carb, I don't need a rocket for the trails around here.

What about a DR350 motor?

We've got a Mojave sitting behind some guy's yard in town, but I've tried kicking it over and the kickstart wouldn't move at all (read: seized up or something). Looked like it'd be a fun little frame to play around with, though.

Yeah they are a 250.

Looking for a four stroke to go into a Tecate chassis and they seemed like a solid choice.

I am not real familiar with DR's... But most dirtbike engines I have measured have had a similar sprocket offset from center distance as the tecate... Are you set on using a 4-stroke? I always thought a air-cooled KDX200 engine would make a sweet powerplant for a trail machine... I bet it would be nearly a bolt-in swap into a tecate chassis... Use the kdx pipe and gas tank.... mellow power, reliable, lightweight, factory lighting coil, easy to start, cheap parts, etc.....

ive seen a mojave with a klx 650 motor stuffed into it, it looked at first completly stock but it ripped crazy!

Set on a fourstroke. Never ran a strong one before, figure I'll give one a try. Looking into the bigger fourstrokes. Will be a few months after I'm working again.

I always thought the XR600R would be a pretty monstrous motor to have in, say, a TRX250R chassis.
