I know a few people saw my thread (http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=66987) about a week ago about the free trike. I finally got out to it this weekend. It doesn't look too promising but it's free and I'm a cheap bugger so I'm determined to try and make it work. First off, the axle IS broken. Secondly, we couldn't get the engine to turn over (no juice in the battery but we tried to turn it over with a pry bar on the left wheel with the transmission in first gear and differential locked). The spark plug was left in and there was oil in the cylinder but it had been sitting for about 5 years. Seems to me that maybe the valves were open and moisture got in. I'm going to try some penetrating oil down the cylinders and see if I can free it up. If not, I'll open it up and see what I have. No money lost in that. The wheels and tires are included. We may try throwing those on and giving it a pull to see what happens too. The front brake handle and cable are missing so I'd definitely have to get that figured out (the rear axle was broken because some doof took it out on a high-speed run and locked up the rear tires). Anyway, on to the pictures (click on them for full-size 5MP).

These are the ONLY numbers I could find on it. Am I overlooking something as to where the VIN/serial would be? I'd like to figure out what year it is for sure.

It's a KLT250C but it has the differential instead of the solid axle. I'm confused.

Fairly high mileage.

The locking hub.

The rest are just misc. pictures I took. I didn't take one from the back though. It's got the "Differential" sticker across the back so I can't see this being a swap unless somebody actually went out to buy the sticker after doing it.

Those things are fun!! I had an 83-84 one.It was the kawi prairie. You have the peg leg or posi rear too! Mine was red.Sorry I gave mine to my brother in law.And the prick fried the electrical system. Now he wont give it back!! parts are rare but do come around.Just watch ebay. The motor in mine was shot.So I luckly found a rebuilt one on ebay for $75 bucks. Anyways good luck.

I have one of the 200's and it has a stripped out rear to, but it still moves under its own power. Just dont get it off of flat dry ground or it will put you in a bind. I am thinking of either using the motor on a buggy or using a blaster rear assembly to replace the entire axle and get some suspension on the rear.

try dumpin some ATF down in the cylender to free it up. just let it soak for a couple days. sometimes it works.

The thing behind the diff locking and unlocking is of course it will give you a very tight turning radius. Some people used those trikes with a 3 or 5 gang mower to mow their yards and the unlocked diff would let you get around trees alot better than a locked-solid axle. You can still get some parts from the dealer. Bike bandit is a good source too. You'd be surprised what nos stuff you can still get at the dealers. I know I had bought a red tank for my 84 klt110 and some fenders too. The front forks on those things are sort of like the old rutt rider front ends they used for the old honda 90\110 to get some front suspension. The speedo is an official kawi accessory. They never seem to go for much money and I don't even know if it has the same threads as the honda trike parts. I'm not sure if the headlight surround is an official accessory or not, I know chrome ones were. Have fun.

The guy that has it says it was a handful when he road it with the single wheel.

I'll have to see about giving that a try too.

I've been using that site a lot for checking on parts availability and parts cross referencing. The axle that I need is around $200 on there so I'll be looking for a used piece for sure.
