I finally got it home. I think he broke the bottom of the main jet as marked X in the pic. How many turns out is the slow jet ( marked Y)suppose to be or does it need to be bottomed out. It wants to run, but is loading up. I have a feeling it is because of the broken main jet. He wouldn't take the $500.00 until I got it running and is satisfied with it. He told me to take it home and get it running before I pay him the money. CAN YOU BELEIVE THAT!:Bounce :Bounce :Bounce . I want to get it running soon to ride it and eventually sell it. I have a couple of guys who wants it already. What is it worth in this condition. The guys buddy is the original owner. He has had it for 7 years and has only run 2 tanks of fuel through it. The carb was full of crap and he cleaned it a bit. As I said, it wants to run but is loading up really fast.:beer

Do I measure the largest diameter to determine the size for it? Will this cure the carb loading up?

If the carb is filling with fuel and coming out the vents, pull the float off and make sure the float valve is clean and has a nice clean taper to the end of it with no ridges. Look down inside at the seat and make sure nothing is stuck on the float seat. All the jets will have #'s stamped on them. Unscrew them and with a compressor blow them out, if the carb had junk in it it may have sucked up some sediment. If it still loads up the bowl the float level may need adjusting.

Hope you get it running

I don't have any gas coming out the over flow. I checked the float valve and it looks okay. Will it still load up even if there is nothing coming out of the over flow? Did you notice if there was something missing on the end of the jet? It look like somthing has snapped off of it when I look down into it.Should there be a slot for a screwdriver to unscrew it with?
:wondering

how are the reeds ? Did you check them by chance?Look to see if they are falt against the reed cage-if theres a gap, they are bad. That may be the problem you are experiencing with the flooding out.The pilot jet screws into the carb housing till tight-it shouldn't be loose at all.Look at the float valve-it should have a rubber tip on it-if it doesnt it needs replacement.

If the reeds aren't up against the reed cage, wouldn't that spit back fuel to the carb again?

in the picture X is the main jet. and it looks funny to me.the picture is not clear.but if it is snaped off in there then that is your problem, try to get it out. or get a used 85 or 86 carb of ebay.there different but both will work.

I went on to bikebandit.com and looked it up in the schematic. The jet holder is missing in the carb and the main jet is missing. I thought something looked snapped of inside. I have a screw extractor set and will try and get it out tomorow. I will also order a rebuild kit for this card so I can replace all the orings and gaskets etc.

Its worth what ever someone will pay for it! Throw out a price(a little higher than you would pay say $700) and see if someone bites if not come down a bit and go at it again.

Where did you find that for 500 bucks!? I am jealous. I always tear apart the classifieds for rides like that! And we live pretty close!

Looks like the main jet is gone and missing. You are looking at the main jet holder I think... The main jet screws into that piece which can be removed and allows the needle jet to be removed behind it.

Bottom out the slow jet.

Check the fuel screw - It should go screw, spring, washer and then oring. Oring must be in good shape and the tip of the screw must be clean, no pitts and straight. Start at 1.5 turns out after LIGHLY bottoming.

Without the main jet orifice to meter the fuel, it's dumping huge anmounts into that motor and may become fuel locked.

I just ordered a carb rebuild kit from hyper parts.I'm having it shipped air.

Hyperparts and those "N2" kits are a great value and work great.

Just be sure to check the 250R fuel screw thread pitch in the kit. The 86 200X N2's kit airscrew thread has a diferent pitch and I couldn't use it. Stinks because I really needed it....I'd contact N2 but the package doesn't even have there address on it anywhere.....
