well, i was hoping that a new carberator would solve he problems, but it turns out the bike still wont run. stephen has narrowed down the problem to valves, cdi, stator, or very unlikely, the piston rings. here are the symptoms. when spark plug cap is disconected (for safety duhh) the bike sucks and blows (lmao:lol: ) whick suggests valve problmes. i have had the bike runing for brief spurts of about 5 seconds or so by poping it into first down a small hill, the bike would turn over, rev up, drive 10 feet and die, it is definately getting gas, i smell it and a little smoke comes out every onece in a while aswell. any help is apriciated, i would like to get as much done on my own as possible before i put it in a shop because i need it ready by the end of june

Check your flywheel key and try cleaning the petcock. What does it do when you try to start it normal? We need more info.

petcock just cleaned, i havent thought about the flywheel key, here is a pretty recent vid of trying to start it. its before the new carberator but it didnt make too much of a difference in how it sounded and tried to start (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZf_lxq6UQ0)

Sounds a little like it`s too far advanced.
Whatever it is it is not too far off.
Did you do a compression test??? If there is little it will give you somewere to start.
