Have you tryed it?

Im looking through the Missouri site to find one here. It would be nice to check the status of my bike without risking arrest.

I was an idiot by not checking my bike before I sunk all that money into it. I would really like to insure it, but dont know what would happen with the insurance company.

Are you guys attempting to get registrations and/or plates?

I plated mine and didn't have a title, there's a secret to it. PM me if you need the info :)

there is no way to check if its stolen in ohio......i called State highway patrol, and said i need to runa ATV vin to make sure it hasnt been reported stolen before i buy it. d!#*head officer on the other side of the phone said he couldnt give me that information. i got pissy, and said well then how the hell am i supposed to know of this clown stole it or not? cause if i buy it, sure as trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro in a week you will be knocking on my door for possession of stolen property. he didnt have anything to say.

no title, it was a 87 atv, before titling was required. his dumb arse couldnt comprehend that......"oh it has to have a title"

called local pigs, they couldnt run the VIN, not right length.

I wonder if one of those charming ladies at the local DMV could check for you. :D

I made those charming ladies at our DMV go out in the cold to check the VIN on my 125m before they would give me a title. They socked me with every fee they could. It cost me more than a car.

I've called the dmv and told them I was leary about buying an atv that I saw at a swap meet because of a very low price and feared that it was stolen. I gave them the vin # they ran it in their computer and said it was ok.
I already owned the trike but I didn't know if it was hot or not and that's how I found out. If she would of said it was hot I would of said "Thanks I won't buy it"

I need to do the same thing. I'm hoping the SOS here is as courteous as your DMV.

I need to do the same thing for some of mine. My Big Red is the only one I have plated, since it came with the original cert of origin

There are some trails opening up in lewis county up near us, and you have to be apart of a club, have insurance and registration(I believe) to ride in the trail system. I dunno how the registration part would work if we needed it?
we have a four wheeler to run, but if we did want to take the ATC's for a spin up there too, this sounds like something we'd have to do to get apart of that, with all the VIN number mess and what-not.....:wondering

remember when checking vin's that it must be 17 digits will not have letters I O Q and will not be before 1981<year mandatory>for 17 digit vin's.all letters are capital also.use the NICB,nathttps://www.nicb.org/cps/rde/xchg/nicb/hs.xsl/vincheck.htmlional insurance crime bureau web site. / this is a national data base/ hope it helps out the 3ww members
