Worked on the Tiger 250 today and finally got it to run. I am told it has been atleast 10yrs since it ran last. It had a cut wire that replaced the end on , cleaned the carb (not really dirty at all) and flushed the coolant. That is where the problems start , as you can see DO NOT let coolant sit in your trikes for 10yrs. The coolant has ate away part of the water pump. So I took the one off my Tiger 200 (which needs the engine rebuilt) to get it running. Fired up after a couple of kicks (Tigers are a LEFT hand backwards kick, so it hard for a Honda guy to figure out:lol: ) Sounds awsome:D :D I love it. But I have a fuel leak around the petcock so I need to address that before I can get a ride. Also enclosed a pic of the spark plug that was in it, I beleve it is an original plug since it is a Bosch. (that pic is for you Bill, lol) and a pic of it when I got it to remind those of which one it is.

Congrats blue, wish I could have been there for the first firing, hope you got it on video. It's a shame the antifreeze turns acidic, but it is a fact of life. If that is your water pump, imagine what the insides of the water passages look like in your cylinder! Keep an eye out for bulging coolant hoses too. I would change the coolant again after your first couple of starts cause you will probably be stirring up some nasty sediment.

That is wild.........I had no idea coolant would do that over time.
Thank god I emptied mine!
Good to hear you got it running.
Let us know how the first ride was when you finally do:D

Well today I installed a new petcock seal, bleed the rear brakes (they didn't work but thats all it took) and put on a new chain (was missing when I bought it) and took it out for a ride. WOW!! a lot of fun more power they I expected and I was easy on it. It ran awsome and the brakes are unbelievable the twin piston Gremicas do the job. Maybe later I will play alittle more but I do not want to beat it up to much, I think I will let that for the 200 when I get it running since it is not all original. Maybe I will try and get a video later.
