If you ever in the area (I was there a few years ago) stop by and cruise around, quite interesting!!

Hmmmm, wonder if we would be allowed to go triking there? Naaah, our tires would probably melt!

They say you can light a match at certain spots by just touching the ground!

I remember when I was a kid and you actually still drove the main road through there, and when it was raining it would be so smokey/foggy that you couldnt see two feet in front of you. I still stop there all the time when I go to the mountains and take a few pics here and there. Definetly a crazy site to see.

yes there are like 11 people that still live there, you can walk around at your own risk with some no trespassing signs present. It is definetly something you just have to see in person.

Here are two good clips about it.

Definitly go see it sometime Raffa.

I just remembered that I brought a Cetrailia rock home as a souveneir :D

 CHRIS !! .....tell these guys about the place in PA where your car rolls backwards on a hill (heading downhill when stopped) in neutral !! That I am definitly going to try sometime !! I can't find (thought I saved it?) the link you gave me but do remember it's my initials for the name of the road I think?

WEIRD, here is anothe place like that too, think it's over in Europe though, what a rare phenomenon for sure

Quote from link below .............

" "I’m looking for the road where things go backwards," I said, as I was handed my ice cream.
‘Ah, Magic Road.’
‘Is that what you call it then?’
‘That’s right. If you go left from here to the end of the road you’ll come to a T-Junction, take a right and then an immediate left. Follow the road to the top of the hill, then down into a dip where you’ll see a big mushroom. Stop there, put the car in neutral and release the brake. You’ll roll backwards up the hill."

That sucks that the town is lost, but I love that sort of stuff. "Ghost" towns are pretty cool.

Theres a place down the highway from me that is deserted for a chemicle reason. The way I remember my dad telling its a town called Times Beach they had to evacuate because of the use of Dioxin. Its a chemicle they sprayed on the roads to keep the dust down, little did they know it was toxic. They cleared the town out, and I'm pretty sure their still burning the soil in hopes of "fixing" the issue. It was always kinda cool driving down the highway and staring at a town that was completely deserted.

That PA town kinda reminds me of "Silent Hill."

Huffa,, that place I was tellin you about is called gravity hill. there are a few of those in pa I believe. here's a link to one of them:

http://endeavor.med.nyu.edu/~strone01/gravity.html

You put your car in neutral and you roll backwards uphill?! I was at one of them a few times back in high school. I think there is one not far from Centrailia?? Pretty freaky stuff..

Local history and the like fascinates me... sometimes when i'm bored a spend hours on the computer reading up about the local coal mining industry and the indians that lived in the area hundreds of years ago. Huffa.. ever hear of the Sugarloaf Massacre?

I was just explaining to Gary about my location mention up on top of my posts. Hazleton is Pa's highest city. Almost 1700 ft. Its actually one of the highest cities in the country east of the mississippi. I bet most of you guys didn't know that! (or can care less!!! LOL)

I new that about hazelton. Its funny I was just up to centralia yesterday for my work. I go thru there alot to go drag racing theres a strip not to far from there. When I was young and first started racing there was alot of people and houses there even a speed shop right on the main corner where I bought my first aluminum intake. The name of the shop was the speed spot. I wanted to get the sign of it before they dozed it but they got to it to soon.
