This is the 250 I have been working on. I still need rear fenders, seat pan and to put on the perch and lever for the front brakes.
I cleaned it up and repaired the tank as it was pretty beat up and rusty. Sealed it with US tank sealer. Replaced the whole rear end including axle, cleaned the carb and adjusted the valves.
The cleaning of the tank and valve adjustment made all the difference in the world on starting and running. I think it is going to be a great trike to use, only wish I had finished it in time to go to winrock this weekend but I did not.

There are alot of auctions on ebay right for rear plastic.

Thanks I am watching that as well
Some of them auctions seem crazy on there, the last set went for 175.00. That is 25.00 more than a new set of aftermarket plastic. I am just going to save my next 2 checks and buy a set of new plastic.
Is there a reason why a old set in good shape would be better than a new set? I have the fenders for the ones I have, with all the brackets and rack and lights. The guy who had it before me cut the rear fenders to the rack, I didnt really ask why since he gave me the trike.

Nice trike! Are those Carlisle Strykers? I have the same on my 83 BR.
As for the "why do old sets go for more than new sets?"
I think its because people want to original part to a trike, even though its not brand new. It may add to the luster of a 20+ year old trike, or people just like the thought of something surviving that long, and still looking great!
I know when I bought new plastics for an 86 250SX I had, I would have bought a nice original set of plastics before new. I gave in since I was getting tired of beat up fenders, and not finding any for sale.
im just going to spring for a new maire set for my big red here this sumer, I like the way they shine! makes a machine real nice!

Well I have to say, it you are just going to ride the mess out of it and have fun, just get your some aftermarket ones. THey are much stronger than some used OEM ones off the bay. I thnk you will be happy with them one you get them. Also you need to get rid of that front tire too, cuz its worthless and also will end up rubbing holes in your forks if you dont have it pumped to the moon.
I have another one like that$ is on this 200es if you are interested in it. I paid 106 for the pair shipped so if you just paid half, you can have it. They are 25x12.50x9
Oh you need to hook up with me and willie (86waterpumper), and lets ride these babies.

I plan to ride it as much as I can, I will prob be better off with the new plastic. I am very restricted on what I can spend (I only make 70.00 a week at mcdonalds.). And out of that I have to pay insurance, gas and other things. I will probably just ride it with no fenders untill I can get some. The rear tires look new, still have the spines all over them. The front one I will just have to wait untill I can afford it.
Other than fenders a seat is my biggest problem, the pan I have is broken in half, I am going to try to rivot it together or something to make it work, as a new seat is out of my budget as well. I am sure once i get the seat solid I can recover it. My grandma can sew well and can make me one.
since im going to get new ones I'll sell you mine for $50 shipped, there not perfect but almost all there, alitle broken off the bottom and the right one has a crack, I'll even send it with the black side guards on it, let me know man there oem let me see if I can find a pic

Josh, I have a seat for your 250es. It has a chunk ripped out of the foam but the pan is fine. I'll let it go for $25 shipped. PM if your interested.

Looks pretty good. The left side cover has an 86 decal, and the others are 85.
I agree with Scott, go with MAIER fenders, they are strong as steel and look great.
Good luck,
Travis
