This (pic below) would make a pretty good steering tire I think?

Not a bad looking tire ..........

We have the Dunlop in that size too .........

.....and the Kenda pro max

http://www.tiresunlimited.com/images/Kenda_Atv/KENDA%20K284.jpg

:wondering Anything else in that size out there, I looked quite a bit, found nothing else that would work tread pattern wise.

I'll bet no ones tried this cheapo 41 bucks NanKang yet  , I just might take a chance and go for it :D

Those are rear tire threads :D

Cheap tire, yea, yea, I know . I really don't like the looks of the pro max though but I know from reading that guys love it performance wise.

More then likely I'll chicken out and get the Dunlop.

Ya know what though (I just looked) the NanKang looks very simular to the dunlop that is on mine now ! In fact, I think it is identical ! :beer

You in the market for any tires?

Speaking of the max, where it is 2 ply rated, how soft is it?? Soft enough for a unsuspended trike??

I hope someone balls up and buys that Nakang, I would kinda like to see how they perform. I especially like the design of the Nakang, but the Dunlop and the Pro Max dont look bad either.
Edit* Dunlop also has a 22" 11inch rim front tire out there, I might consider that too... http://tiresunlimited.com/images/dunlop_atv/KT151.jpg

I ordered one from http://www.tiresunlimited.com/atv_tires.htm.

That's a handy tire website as they have a huge selection and great pictures of every tire you are interested in, I'm bookmarking that for sure.

53.90 with shipping

:naughty: It's just a Dunlop KT 376A (no longer made) in disquise.

I'll be the guinea pig :beer

So we know it came on the 83/84 R and it's said by team-red-rider that it comes on the 200X's, 83-85 I think and that's it, correct?

A lot of us ended up with Dunlop 23" KT403's on TriZ's due to limited selection for the 12" rim and I love mine on the track, but Im more partial to 25" front tires for trail riding. The front Max is a super tire. I dont know anything about the Nanking, but the one variable you cant see in pictures is how hard the rubber compound is, and that could be the major difference. The tread pattern looks perfect.

Ive found nothing better than Cheng Shin for unsuspended models. The Max is not a rock, not bad, but not as soft as a Cheng Shin knobby.

So very true and I thought about that already. The OEM Dunlop on mine is the original with about 40%-50% tread left so I don't think I can compare the softness of the rubber being that mine is so old and worn.

If I did i think the NK would feel softer due to the larger knob and being brand new?

" ya thats nankang's brother " Raffa, your a real character for sure!

Will do but I really don't have much ride time on the R for a fair comparison and to compare it to my 1/2 worn one, IT BETTER BE BETTER !!!

A bit of info on it ..........

Tire Size 23.5X8-11, Ply Rating 2PR, Tread Depth 15/32, Rim Width 6.50, Max Section Width 8.03, Overall Tire Diameter 22.99, Max Load 290, Approx Weight 12.5

can get it here also ....... http://www.gearworksmfg.com/atvtires/nankangnanco.html

that does look like a stock 1st gen. 200x front tire. My favorite front tire I use is the ohtsu H-TRAK. Works good everywhere and dosent wear too fast either

Yea, they say (I just noticed this) .........

DESCRIPTION:
- OEM STYLE TREAD
- LARGE KNOBS FOR INCREASED STEERING STABILITY
- DEFINITELY A TIRE THAT BELONGS OUT FRONT

..........so I imagine OEM they are referring to the Honda X and R. Not sure if Yam or Kaw ever used this style?

In all honesty, from a looks point of view I like the Ohtsu H trak best and am sure it performs a bit better too but I'm anxious to see how this Dunlop replica will perform and I'm sure others have looked for this type of tire before and seems to me this is the only one out there.

Here you go Huffa, I'll try to help you with two of your posts in one answer...lol

http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=68944

A lot of the OTC with R's are running the Carlisle Trail Wolf front tire. It's got an aggressive tread and holds up well in many, if not every, condition. It's on 23" tall though, but I like the slightly lower profile.

You can also see the 400ex stockers on the back. I've been running that tire combo for almost a year now and have no complaints whatsoever.

Thanks! That's what I'm going to do, Ohstu's in rear but try the Nankang up front.

I think, judging from tread patterns the NK will be a better hard surface tire and the Trail Wolf better on loamier typr of soil including mud.

I have a F tire simular to that on my SX, works well and has really deep tread depth, just like the Wolf's.

That is the exact same tread pattern I'm running of my 250r. Only mine is a Cheng Shin Radial 23.5x8-11. I like the knobby look over the front max personally. I have always been a huge knobby fan.

As far as cheap tires performing cheap, I disagree. I love my Cheng Shin tires. The oem tires for my 200 are Cheng Shin knobbys. Over the last year or so, they have almost doubled in price. They are the best performing, soft, and lightweight tires I've run.
