I have a 1994 Buick Regal Custom and the sound system in it is very old and outdated (with a cassette player LOL!) and I am trying to replace it. I installed 4" Rockford Fosgate 2 way speakers in the front and 6x9" 400W 4-way Sony Xplode speakers in the rear.. now I purchased a 50x4W Pioneer CD/MP3/WMA player to install in my vehicle and I cannot figure out the wiring. I am not a novice at this.. I installed my brothers Kenwood CD player in his Dodge Avenger and my girlfriends Sony CD player in her Dodge Neon but my Buick has some screwed up wiring!!
First of all, there are wires running from the cassette player up to the stereo and then there are wires running from both the cassette player and the stereo to what I believe is an amp. The wiring diagrams I have purchased online do not match the wires running from the stereo, but they do match the wires running to the speakers (if that makes any sense). AKA the wires run from the stereo, to the really crappy stock amp under the glovebox, and then to the speakers. While doing this, they have different colored wires running from the stereo to the amp and then from the amp to the speakers.. which is STUPID!
So.. does anyone know how I would go about figuring out which wires go where? Or does anyone happen to know exactly where the amp is on a Buick Regal? I took a look under the dash and there are so many wires under there that are the same color that I do not know where to begin.
(Oh... and there are only 7 wires running from the cassette player and 6 wires running from the radio.. which does not make sense because it requires 8 wires--2 for each speaker)
SO! Anyone have any clue? Or did anyone even understand my rambling?
Thanks
Ben

Anytime I had car stereo issues...I always called these guys. A buddy turned me onto them years ago.

ok.... heres what your going to have to do, the junk old factory amp.. dimiss that peice! rewire from every new speaker to the new radio, alot of older vehicles have a self grounded speaker system for some of the speakers, thats why you see less wires, If you run all new wires from each speacker to elliminate this fiasco

red 12v power
yellow ign turn on
black ground
blue amp turn on lead
blue/white power antena
orange illumination (dont use)

purple
purple/black speaker ground all bllack stripe are grounds

grey
grey/black

white
white/grey

green
green/grey

all of those are the 4 speaker out puts I cant remember with one they go to but they should be labled

hope this helps

If I cannot figure out this wiring mess.. how much do you figure it might cost me to get it installed professionally?
One of my friends told me it cost him $30 but that seems a little low. Maybe not though? It would probably cost me more because they would have to tear my car apart in order to get to all the wires!

BTW.. if I were to run all new wires from each speaker to the stereo, I would still need to figure out how to hook up the power antenna and figure out which wires from the Buick are the constant and switched sources.
This car is also weird in the sense that there is no antenna jack.. just wires. How would I hook up the AM/FM radio? Would I buy some kind of adapter or what?
ALSO! Do these radios use Bluetooth to control satellite receivers or would it be necessary for me to hardwire it?
