Man, thats one nice roller. I think the black upper tree is growing on me, it looks really good on that machine. Are most of the suspension parts restored or NOS that were never installed before? I can't wait to see some more pics...

Wow!!! You got the job alot of us guys dream about! About how long does a resto like this one take? Do you aquire all the parts? have most in house? or are most of them restored? fill us in on some details.
I'm sure I can speak for others when I say thanks for sharing a sweet restoration like this. I hope to see more in the future.

Nice looking trike!, If you need any pictures from a 87 200X let me know, I just got 2 of them a few weeks ago. Theyre kind of dirty, missing the brake light. But everything else looks to be original, except the tires. Heck even the keys came with them. Jim

Awesome work Mike,
Mike do you paint or powder coat your frames?, it looks like that one's painted due to the nice shine, am i right?. Mike when i have painted frames in the past the paint sometimes chips, when tightening and loosening bolts, so i powder coat my frames now, just wondering if you have encountered the problem in the past and how did you overcome it.
Again AWESOME work!!!!,
Gordon.
OH ye, thanks for posting!!! :w00t:

Dont let it bother you vintage, I think most people started ignoring his useless posts a long time ago. 99.9% of the members here can truly appreciate your stellar work, and INCREDIBLE collection. I live in mid ohio, and am really looking forward to seeing some of the stuff you show around. Keep us posted! BTW, if you have any way of getting parts for the 86-87's, let a brother know :beer :beer !

as far as frames it depends on the color this one is powder coated with a powder clear on top thats what gives it the deep shine, certain old honda trail bikes i do have a special color such as candy etc so those always get painted , painted frames definitley look alot nicer but like you said you need to be a little carefull during the assembly, the trick to gettting a tougher paint job is all in the undercoats your primers need to be sealed and base coat applied at the right time and it will get a much stronger bond still not as tough as PC but tough enough . I find on painted frames to keep the bolts from spinning on the paint by using washers with a little oil on them for friction etc . and just basically being carefull.
to the other guy come to Vintage days this year in mid ohio and stop by and say hi we will have a restored US90 at the show as well as a restored 73 elsinore and a 69 z50 on display Mike

Mike,
Powder clear?, never knew anything about that :wondering - but i know its what my next 2 frames will have :naughty: , well assuming the pc company can supply it, that is.
Thanks very much mike!

OH yea we use all types of powders , we even use a satin clear to do some of the early 250r engine cases we use the same base red as the frame , the frame gets a gloss clear and engine cases a satin clear looks very factory , a straight color in powder typically has a little haze to it the clear fixes that . good luck Mike

Were the 87 200x's the only 200x to ever have a red swingarm? Correct me if im wrong, but didn't 86's have silver? If this is true, i just learned something. Either way 86-87 200x's are such nice looking machines and do have some differences that i never realized.

Red swingarms were on the 87 only....yes 86's were silver.

Wow! That's a nice air fooler. I've been saving from my paper route and I sold some of my parts like some used tires and some parts carburetors I had. I have to sell a few more bent forks and maybe I will have enough money for you to restore my 87 250r that I traded for a Sears riding mower that needed a transmssion. My buddy has some leftover paint that you can use too to keep the cost down and maybe I can sweep your garage floor for a little money off too. Just let me know so I can ask my mom if it's alright. Thanks Mr. Vintage.

I'm just wondering, What is the average cost of a resto if you have all the parts to work with? Or, is there an average? I love doing all my own work. However, I hope to have a class case perfect original some day and I would prefer it be done proffessionaly.

Both of you guys are repeat offenders on thread crapping, it looks like mymint *might* be learning from the doggie shock collar treatment he has been receiving the past 5 years though-I'm impressed. Next time I see either one of you guys pulling this it'll be a bliss full 30 days of the 3WW forums without you.
Very nice Mike!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Orangecnty250r
Did you ever get your shop/show room completed? About 3-4 months ago I asked you if you had any pictures of your collection and you said that you would probably have pics sometime in the spring when the shop was done. I was wondering if you have any pics of your collection that you could share with us so we can all drool somemore. Please, post some pictures of your setup.
Thanks 350xman

One of my 200x has a small crack in the rear fender, I called the local honda dealer, he said they can put it on a nationwide search, they also said it could take up to 3 months. But if they find one, its going to cost 310 bucks. I havent heard from them, and probably wont, but it sure would be nice to find a original fender. my 2nd one has a good fender and seat, jim

I doubt they'll find one... I've seen used 86/87 fenders fetch about that same amount. And, we've all seen the 350X fenders reach 2000$.
