Went out last weekend to cut back some hedges and overhanging branches around the fields, actually I think it was just an excuse to play. Anyway, took 3 machines, a Yamaha Breeze, a 225 Moto-4, and the Bigred (the Yams are not mine!). I had the trailer on the Honda to carry all the gear, the plan being to use the Yams to skid the branches back into the woods. The plan was good, but something that hadn't occured to me was how difficult going forwards-to-reverse-to-forwards was on a Yamaha. The Breeze was just plain awkward but the Moto's H/L/R lever got so hot it was almost imposible to use. Add to that the Moto kept packing up and having to be towed out of the way to let the Bigred get on with the job and I really started to appreciate the Honda package (bought it for £65, thats about $110!).
Later in the day, we went across to an area of dried out mud, doesn't sound like much but about quater of an acre of deeply rutted dry clay. We'd had some heavy machinery through there when it was wet and had left ruts 12-18" deep, and set like concrete.
It was all bottom gear play, but the trike always seemed to be much more in control of any given angle or situation and the one thing that stood out more than anything else was that the quads always appeared to be on...
Wait for it...
3 WHEELS!!!
Strange that innit?
I did have the camera with me to get some Bigred working pics but the batteries were flat Dammit I'll try again when I can.
