atc 200e no spark

My 1983 200e is not getting any spark. I replaced the front sprocket by taking off the left case, starter and all, and before that it started and ran. I tried a new plug (the same one that was in it before Champion RA8HC). Is there anywhere i should start to look to get it to spark?

Also it sounds as if the starter is revving faster than normal but that just may be in my head....

check the connections and wires.

Check to make sure your ground is properly attached. I have had the same problem before, pulled an engine out of a chassis and it lost spark. Turns out I plugged some stuff in wrong. DOH.

Where is the ground?

Any wire or metal peice on the electricals that has a connection to the frame or engine is the "ground". Usually a green or black wire.
