I have been meaning to post this for a while. I figured with Trikefest around the corner now is a good time. Some of those trails out there are deep and long. If you crash and no one finds you for a while you could have some problems. So do not ad to them by not having any identification on you. This is a good thing that runners use:

I usually wear a pair of my old dog tags. They have my allergies as well and social security number on them. For obvious reason you should not carry a wallet or drivers license but you should carry something simply stating the following:
Name
Point of emergency contact
Allergies
And any other pertinent information important in treating you
Also make sure what ever it is on is water and sweat proof.
It might be a good idea to have the contact information of some one there in your group as well. If you have any allergies or other medical issues make sure those around you are aware of them. That makes things a lot easier on you and the responding medical team. It could even safe your life.

that is a very good idea.. i think that it should be a rule in public riding places to have to have that stuff. i may get something like that. people think, oh thatll never happen to me i dont need that, so they wont do it but it can happen to anyone. i hope more people take this advice.

One of my rules with the guys I ride with is we never go alone into the bush. Yrs ago I did just for a little ride and crashed hard and it really stank laying there busted up
lol, I plan on getting my social tatooed on the back of my neck, that way when they find me face down in a pool of blood they can figure who I am......

I have had way too many close calls myself. I ride alone a lot because I get sick of waiting for other people to show up. I have been pinned to a tree, stuck in a tree and rolled right over a 50 foot frop into a creek. all that happened when I was alone. So I take this seriously.

the golden rule out west is.....:postwhore never ride alone:postwhore ...that in it self, is the best safety measure.....most people die out here because they bleed to death before they are found....
the pelvic bone often gets injured or broke because of roll overs or crashes, that is the biggest bone and is where from most of your blood is made, I myself have had some close friends die because of a broken pelvic bone and internal bleeding AND not getting to the hospital in time enough to treat
NEVER ride alone
it's foolish to ride alone

Oh I am well aware of the dangers and I in no way encourage it. But I just can not help it sometimes.

Well that depends Ronnie. Was it a good thing that led to him lying in a pool of blood?

When racing (quads) in the Uk, Dog tags are required , your blood group and other important information like allergic to penicillin / paracetamol ect, have to be displayed, basically to assist emergency support teams, should you be unconscious or unable to speak.

I have the medcial tags I had to wear when I was in the military. They have all that information including my allergies to medicines. it is a good idea and they are cheap. Any surplus store sells them. Just ask for red medical dog tags.
