Hey guys. What size spanner wrench do I need to adjust my 350x and 250r chains? The previous owners of these machines obviously didn't own one because the carriers are half butchered and I don't want to add to the mess. Thanks for your help.

I dont mean to change the subject but i have an 02 warrior also, and i can't keep my axle tight to save my life. I just ordered a pair of the 50mm wrenches so i can torque it, then back the inner nut against the outter as tight as i can. It's running 22x11x9 inch 6 ply holeshots, are the tires my issue? Its also a 13/40 sprocket, i was thinking of going to a 14 for more top end.

Any tricks? I'm just askin cause it sounds like you work on all of your own stuff...

a guy had the same question earlier Bob, and like i told him, go to your local atv shop and see if they have a progressive suspension adjustable spanner wrench. I have one and my old man has one. They are great for carriers and shocks and cost about $20-$25.

hehe, that guy was me! Switching subject again..I got a spanner that fits but I cant get it loose. Is there any special way to break it loose? Also, I want to tighten the chain...what way do I turn it?

Thanks again, Diz. I was kinda afraid you'd reply with that. Problem is, my local dealer is kinda fly-by-night and doesn't stock a whole lotta goodies like that. He may be able to order one though. I may stop in tomorrow to see him. Either way, I appreciate the info.

IIRC I believe its a 41mm spanner. You can eBay search 350x spanner and they will come up

Not to change the subject, but is the shock spanner and the axle spanner the same?

They are disco, but pop up on EBAY sometimes.

If they keep loosening up, you could always try to put some blue loctite on the threads. If that fails, then get the red stuff, but I suspect the red stuff will be way overkill. I'd try a very little amount at first and work my way up if it don't work. Most automotive parts stores should have it.

Another thing to point out, make sure your carrier bearings are good, if they are going bad they could be wearing causing the axle to get sloppy even though the nuts didn't loosen. If they were changed not long ago, maybe the bearings were not pressed in all the way (if they are the press in type). The 99 warrior I have sounds to be completely different than yours. Axle has hex nuts, 2 bolts to hold the carrier, and a 10 + 12mm bolt/nut system to tighten the chain.
