Just got back from my sand dunes trip up to St. Anthony in Idaho. I have ridden dunes quite a bit, but this was my first time at St. Anthony. For anyone interested in goin there I can tell you that the hills are big and steep, and the keep rolling and rolling. However, there are no good bowls. If you want to ride nice bowls then this is NOT the place i'd reccommend. Dont get me wrong, there are some bowls there, but not a very big choice.
Anyway, I took the '85 250r out. It did good for the most part, but didn't have the power I was expecting. I got no power in first and also no power in fourth and above. My Atc200 can beat the snot outa this thing when its not revved sky high. I have about a 4 second delay before I will hit the powerband. Once it gets goin it does good, but gettin it goin is the hard part. Makes it real hard to ride.
The other problem I ran into was my bike will spit all the coolant out of the reserve tank after about 5 minutes of riding out of the overflow tube. Its brand new antifreeze, and the radiators stay full and pressurize.
How do I tell if my bike is overheating or if my water pump is operating correctly??
No visible anti-f leaks, but I will have to see if I lost my headgasket. It looks like it is the original one. I kinda hope i did, cuz that would would explain loosing coolant and the low compression.
Here are some pics of our ride. My photographer wasn't very accurate at shooting shots of me, he would cut off my head or only get the back of my trike in the frame. There are a couple o.k. ones he took, but I was stuck in the top corner of the frame cuz he would point the camera down. I cropped some so they look at least a little descent.
