The excitment of my new PRM skid plate has faded in a hurry. I have an '85 250R with a Westcoast +2" swinger. It bolted up just fine, but the outer ends of my shock linkage bolt are wanting to bump the plate. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I down to cutting? The first pic is me laying across the bike to put a little weight on it.

goto home depot and get some aluminum tubing and cut you some spacers and get a few longer bolts, I had a omf skid on mine that had to have spacers otherwise it would be all over the shock like a horny 14 year old.

Well I have the same setup and thanks for let'n me know why I never bought one of them skid plates for it. I always thought the +2 would just not quite mesh up right. I'd just remove the slight bit of plate you mentioned, rather than lowering the plate IMO.

I think that's what's going to happen. I'm not crazy about lowering it because it means less ground clearance and doesn't resolve my issue. If I try to lower the ride height (brings the linkage bolt down), I will be back to the same problem and would have to space the plate out even more.

PRM says...

"ATV Rider,

Unfortunately we don't have any plates for aftermarket swing arms, especially since there are so many options out there. All of our plates are made for stock specifications.

It would seem that you will need to trim out some of the material on the plate. I prefer that over spacing it since I personally like as much ground clearance as I can get.

Thanks,

Brian - PRM Sales"

Alright, I got the angle grinder out with a cut off wheel and sanding disc and made it work. The pics make it look much closer than what it really is. I trimmed it enough that I can take advantage of the adjustment feature of the swingarm and hook the shock linkage in the number two spot.

Looks good. Roll those edges back for a clean match.

Yup, thats going to happen as soon I find my Dremel. I love my Milwauke angle grinder, but in some places it was like trying to circumcise a gnat with a meat cleaver. I did have enough space to roll the inside.

Wish to hell I could find a sweet skid for my '86 T3.:wondering
