Hello guys, I have a 86 Tri-z 250 with the six speed tranny. I really don't like the stock 32mm carb. I found a Mikuni TMX 36mm carb and I'm just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. What size main and pilot jets would you start out with? I live in the central U.S. Thanks for your help.

I'd start with the stock sizes and go from there, that way you have a really good baseline to begin with. But I have no idea what the stock sizes are :wondering

The carb came out of a 2001 cr125 dirt bike. I think the stock sizes are main #380 and pilot #45. I forgot to mention that I have a stock expansion chamber and a fmf silencer. I'm going to break the motor in with the stock 32 and then try to play around with the 36. Thanks for your help.

I've heard of people boiling the boot so you can fit the 36mm in it. Has anyone ever tried this or is there something different I need to do?

I've heard of people boiling the boot so you can fit the 36mm in it. Has anyone ever tried this or is there something different I need to do?Works good.Put in some murphys oil soap too when you boil it.About 5 minutes would work.Grab some oven mits and work it in there.I sueezed a39 mil in mine no problems.

On another note though,If you can I would look for a 38 mil PWK carb. They are easier to jet and better suited for all around riding.

I take a burnzamatic torch and heat the boot with it..it's mutch faster and you can do it right on the bike without removeing it.. just dont hold the flame to the boot. keep it away a few inches and keep moveing it.

keep the pilot the same and start with a 470 main and go from there
