Opinions for 85 SX restore

Ok guys, I've started taking apart my SX to repaint/restore. I was thinking I'd paint the frame and engine black, but after seeing a couple of other of projects on here with the frame painted red, I'm liking that too, but the SX didn't come with a red frame. Have any of you done a red frame on an SX before? Also, I'd love to hear some tips and tricks that may help me along the way. Feel free to post links to any restore projects as well, that may give me some ideas.

id say red frame or blue silver engine and new white/red plastics nice polished wheels and some holeshots!

I've always wanted to do an SX with a Red frame, Blue seat and all white plastics. I think it would look awesome, and not too off the wall from stock.

Ok, now another question. Where is a good place to order bearings? I don't mind paying a bit more for good quality bearings, but I'd like a good price. Looks like All Balls steering head bearings will be about $35 from a few places, but what about the rest? I want to replace them all while I have the thing completely apart, including the rear differential since it had rust/water in it when I got it.

I too have entertained the idea of a red frame. But most recently i wanted to do an all white powdercoat frame. Black engine with polished side covers. All white maier plastic with a blue seat. White tank. Blue fork boots. 350x headlight (white). 200x front end. WORKS shock. Engine with high comp. piston, web cam, hard surfaced rockers, heavy duty valve springs chrome moly retainers. Thats going to be my second SX which is in the works right now. Recently bought a Tri-Z and that has slowed the process down a bit. Thats how i would do it.

Bearings def. contact dad's he should have all you need for the SX.
