For the head set on my 185s? I think its called the head set. This is where the handlebars mount to the forks.
Is there a different amount for the upper or lower?
thanks

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am thinking 21 upper and 21 lower.

I have changed the frontend countless times and just put on as many as I can fit.

LOL, I use the same method when I put needle bearings in during transfer case overhauls.

Most of my Honda's use 18 bearings top and bottom....

Where did you get the number 41 from??

Anyhow, one of the sites with a parts schematic should tell you how many you need. Maybe try BikeBandit...

I just put my 1981 185s together last night, its 21 and 21. Use sticky grease to hold them in place and do it on a clean flat surface just incase you drop any. Magnets are your friend!

my 200s took 21/21 . i used packing grease on top and bottom then i put the bottom bearings on the triple tree then slide it up threw the neck of the frame. after that put the top ones in then your cap and nuts and so on. then its time to ride lol.

good luck

21/21 is correct. 42 total is how I remember it.
Wipe some grease on the cup first, it will hold the bearings in place while you stab the front forks.

not sure if it helps alot, but i like to drill and tap a small hole in the necks of my trikes so i can screw in a grease fitting and then grease them periodically without taking them apart. you have to fill the whole cavity with grease the first time so it takes a little bit. i have thought about removing the inner seals on rear axle bearings and putting grease fittings in my carriers (200s style carriers) too, but i doubt its really that neccesary.

My 185s has a grease fitting on the rear, not sure if its factory or not.
