am working on an atc 70 and don’t want to put scratched up fenders back on when I am done. Buying new fenders is not an option this time (price) and the old fenders don’t have any cracks or fading. What’s the best way to polish out the light/medium scratches (what products and methods).

I've heard steel wool and then a polishing cloth. You might want to try Plastic Restore, it's advertised in ATV Action and other off-road magazines.

DO NOT use plastic restore, in a few weeks it will look worse. If you want to remove scratches, you need to use sand paper. It is pretty time consuming, but worth it in the end, start out with a really course paper, then keep stepping down until you use a very fine paper. if you take your time and be patient, it will turn out really nice. Then, soak it in armor all over night, wipe it off in the morning, and repeat this for 4-5 nights. When you're done, it will look almost new.:D

Wet sand, start with 600 in the bad areas and work your way down to 5000, then plastic polish, then wax.

Or you could be lazy like I did, hit it with 400 and 1000 wet then paint. Mine had some cracks and welding spatter though.

If the scrarches are light then use 0000 steel wool, Takes a little time but it gets the job done. Dont use heavy grit sand paper at all for scratches, It will just scratch it worse and you end up spending hours just getting rid of the scratches you made yourself. Start very light and then wet sand with an even lighter grit, buff with 0000 steel wool spray down with mop n glo and then buff with a cloth. Some people like to use wax which is fine but i always use mop n glo and it works fine. The only time you need to use real heavy grit is if the plastic has bad dry rot.

also for a quick, no effort way you can use WD40, and it will make some of the scratches less noticeable, but will wear off when you ride.
