Hey guy's having trouble with the 350X 4 stroke ( first timmer )
well i went to kick it over for about a hour had the choke on the 1st spot than 2nd spot & with out the choke ...
after awhile it smelled like gas ...
I tested for spark - Big Blue Spark , and i got shocked :naughty:
New spark Plug , New K&N filter , Carb i have no clue , but the owner just took it to a shop & had them Change the oil & install K&N filter ... i guess the shop jetted for it .
It's been parked in the Up-Right Position ( Rear Hand Bar )- Would this affect it ? ? ? ? ?
Let me know what could be the Problem ? ? ? ?

with the 350x it could be the operator , and I'm not kidding. When TheGreatGazoo came up to brapp's he would be kicking and kicking the 350x and would not be able to start it. I'd hop on and one kick I'd get it. Just kick it over, dont try to get the piston to TDC and all that other good stuff.
Try pop starting it. Might just be really cold blooded

Try pull starting it, see if that helps it. Pilot jet might be way off. Check the main also make shure its not TOO big. Starting fluid might help also.

Seems like a lot of the 4 strokes on this board have trouble starting. lol. I'm in the same boat, I dunno anything about them. Best of luck though.

Yeah I kinda gotta agree that it mite just be finding that sweet spot.On my ATC 600x I was walking around with a limp and a sore foot because I did'nt know how to start her..That's with a fresh build also. Most Thumpers are cold blooded to say the least, especially Honda's ,make sure you don't have the throttle set to hi rite off the bat,you can flood it easily that way, maybe talk nice to her and rub the tank and it will start.LOL..If that don't work than pull start her..

I'v never owned a 350x but if fuel is backing up through the air intake at all then your fuel intake valve could be shot or in need of adjusting. Not saying it is but you should check your air intake for gas. my 110 started to smell like gas after a couple pulls and it ended up being the instake valve was out of spec. :beer

Wow here is something I might can actually help somebody with. Im not familiar with a 350X but know a little bit about 4 strokes. I just got a 250r and wow 2 strokes are harder to figure out than 4 strokes. Anyways, here is what I would do personally (assuming its not even hitting). Is it hard to kick over? First get a new spark plug and gap it to whatever it is suppose to be. I know you said you had a new one and it was firing but that dont mean it is inside the cylinder. I have seen brand new ngk spark plugs spark all day hanging off the wire but they wouldnt hit inside the cylinder. Popped in a new plug and it fired right up. (people may laugh at that but I have seen it several times). Next thing is to pour a hit of gas in the carb and see what it does (with the new plug in) it dont take much, and I wouldnt use starting fluid. Im not familar with a 350X valve train, so some of the rest of this may not apply.(I assume the 350x is not a valve under bucket design, but maybe the experts will chime in.) If you have no luck then, hold your hand over the carb and have somebody kick it. Is air trying to blow your hand off the carb? If so your intake valves are probally shot. Do a compression test if you have access to one. If not try pulling it off. If you can get it started by pulling it off, ride it around and try to get it to warm up. After it warms up you may be able to kickstart it. That sometimes means the intake valves are shot. If they have the slightest of gaps you will not be able to build enough compression to start it. But when it is warm the gaps are so small they close up and you will have compression. Does a 350X have a decompression lever, and do those ever go bad? Also if you dont have a compression tester, there is another method to check the valves. But you have to have access to a welder and air compressor. Take an old spark plug, knock it apart until it is just threads. Weld that to a small piece of tubing or pipe thats about the same dia. On the other end weld a male quick disconnector. Now, tighten the tester down into the sparkplug hole, and run about 10psi through it. (most experts say not to run much air through the engine so be careful) 5-10 psi should be plenty. Now then start turning your engine over, with a wrench on the flywheel , crankshaft or whatever. Watch out for footpegs etc. cause it might kick back and bust your knuckles. Keep turning it over until you here the air stop leaking. If it keeps leaking no matter where you turn it or how many times you turn it over, the valves are leaking. This should work on any 4 stroke. Like I said though alot of this applys to an enigine thats valve under bucket design. Maybe somebody that knows more about a 350x can help you out.

I had this problem too when I first went to ride my X. Sumbitch wouldn't start..until I found the sweet spot, now I can get it to start within 2 kicks.

Ok how do i find the SWEET Spot ? ? ? :wondering
I'll check compression, but the dam thing looks new ...

what i would do is:1. double check the simple things 2. new spark plug 3.put some gas in the carb 4. compression test. And then go from there.
