i have a 1994 yz 250. I was wondering what is the ideal gas oil mix.
its currently running 32:1. would leaner help the preformance?

It wouldn't noticeably help unless you're trying to get EVERY LAST HP out of your engine, and have already done lots of other mods. I would personally run 32:1 or maybe even a tad richer on the oil, just for added reliability.

Maxima 927 tends to be the wining choice by most.. I love it too!

Belray isn't to bad either, kinda pricey I think... Just remember, don't go mixing oils, once you decide what you want to use stick to it. I've used 927 for years in our bikes and never had an issue.. smells good too haha

il use what i have of the belray and try 927
Depends what kind of riding you do to pick the best mix ratio, lots of slow trails and woods your gona want to run less oil, and vice versa for wfo,,, 2 stroke makes its best power at 18:1 but you pretty much have to be road racing to keep it running clean,

32:1 or 40:1.

I would run 40:1 if you tend to not scream around all the time. otherwise your fine with 32:1

Some people don't like Klotz, but I do. I run Klotz R50 in all my bikes @ 40:1, and have had very good results.
Like stated above it all depends on conditions, and personal preferance. Run a good name brand oil (no cheap crap), and IMO I wouldn't go leaner than 44:1 anytime.

adding more oil doesn't make it anymore reliable. it'll run hot too rich and too lean.
adding more oil will actually make your air/fuel mixture leaner because... obviously there is more oil and less gas....

ummm wtf are you talking about ?
more oil means more lube for the piston and crank it wont affect how hot it runs
unless you use way to much then it will just foul plugs like crazy

I run my 300R dragbike at 20:1 Amsoil dominator and 110octane racing fuel, it doesn't ever foul plugs and it runs Soooo crisp, don't even smoke either, it's all in your jetting and plug chops are the key to getting it set perfect.:)
I would never go below 32:1 listen to fatcat and oldsking86.;)
