Yes, I downloaded an update on a video player but not from D-loads.com like I should have... Now I have an annoying shield (may have always been there) that flashes red with an X to blue with a ? mark and pops up "SYSTEM ALERT!!" It is on my desktop toolbar and I believe to be IE related.

I use Mozilla so I'm not sure why it's acting up but it is driving me nuts and clicking on it only brings me to a "buy this" antivirus site, "you've been infected"

Ran AVG, ran Spy doc but it won't go away. I feel like I have to buy there dam product just so it will stop....

Can someone help please? I need to remove this thing, thank you!!

Try going to your computers control panel then go to add and remove programs and see if you can find the program you downloaded and if you can remove it.

try going to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore and restore you computer to a time before you downloaded the video player.

click run, then type msconfig. Find the program and prevent it from starting when the computer starts

How much stuff have you stored on your computer? Honestly, sometimes the only way to clean this sort of stuff up is with a full OEM restoration, and those delete anything that isn't part of the factory installation package on a computer. All your photos, videos, text files, etc will be deleted.

Download and run Spybot S&D and AdAware on your computer, If that fails then you get to dig through everything till you find it! Its really not that hard once you know where to look and you've already been told where to start by 3Wheelers4Life and 250sxwheeliepop.

AVG anti-spyware 7.5 and AVG anti-virus 7.5, with every possible update you can get for them. They are both free and can be gotten of of download.com. If that doesn't work then go here and click download and follow instructions. http://www.ubuntu.com/ Then damn near no more problems EVER, and its also FREE!!!!!!

if you dont use any kind of messanger i have a program called socketlock. it closes all ports but your isp port. that means nothing will go in or out without you knowing. its like a juiced up firewall basically.
