Well I bought up a trike that runs like a top but is missing fenders, seat, good gas tank etc. It is a 1982 honda big red. I was given a free trike for parts this weekend that had everything I needed. So the buildup begins. This is a littel different that what we usually see on the boards so I thought I would post it up. The "complete" in the first pic is the project and the sencond pic shows the parts trike with the cleaned, sanded, primed and painted parts. I am going for a basic elcheapo grande jungle camo type look. The seat is needing new foam and seat cover but the seat pan is perfect showing no rust or damage. The front and rear racks need to be straightened out, modified for a few add ons I have planned and then painted to suit. In the parts pic you can the front rim sanded and painted to match after some straightening time on the bench. The reason for the purchase is for hunting and some recreational time on a budget. Since I live in the city it is hard to justfy, at this time, buying a Quad so I am starting with this.

You would fit in nicely with the camo around here! Kinda 'neck, but I like it! Oh, WELCOME to 3WW.

I should add that I am a mechanic by trade so I am a do it myself so its done the way I want it kinda guy...:w00t: I hate stock anything that I own so this is not going to be my first or last modded ride. What is the lever on the side of the cylinder head for, any idea what my trike exactly is for model number I was told a 200?? It has high and low range and electric start.

Lever is for decompression for starting, not that they need it anyway. Your trike looks like a honda 200e

Are they known for ignition button issues. The bike starts when you cross the solenoid but not with the button anymore. Gonna try to pull it aprt tomorrow if I get time.

Well it is cooler tonight so I have decided to put the parts together on the trike for test fitting to see how bad the racks line up since there are several dings and twists evident. So far the project including the purchase of the main trike has run me 300 bucks to date. The seat needs new foam and a cover so that is the weekends project so she will be driveable. I will cheack that voltage issue today. I am painting up the spare rims and straightening them at the same time and then when I get sme mudlites I can mount them up.

WEll today was a bit slow at work so I made some progress. The list today was fixing the starter button wiring that was torn when I picked the bike up and the guy lifted the bike by the fork near the wiring harness which is why it wouldn't start after I got it home. I pulled the headlight and mounted 2 side by side 5 inch fog lightsfor better dusk and night vision. They were then wired to the original headlight switch so I didn't have to worry about mounting some cheap switch that would eventually fail. I made a rear rack so it would be stronger than factory, sit a bit higher which would lift the rear fenders up as well. I also made a rear under rack mount for a dry cell optima that I have. Fixed the loose neck/triple tree bearings. Straightened the front rack so it can be strengthened and possibly modified later. I also checked the wiring harness for other damage and then added some shrink tube to my reapirs and then electrical taped the entire harness. Also mnounted my gun boot on the right side.

That frame looks a little too glossy to be OEM. Rattlecan job, or just WD-40'd the crap out of it? LOL.
