Hi every one. I'm new to the Site and love it. I was given a 1985 200x in great condition. I grew up riding this same bike, but it was my dads. Now that I have my own I decided to pump it up and see how fast I can get it to go. I am trying to see If I can beat my brother on his new 2007 suz 400 on the straight away. Hes talking allot of garbage. I found a cool site called powroll products where I can get a stroke kit and get it bored out with the high compression piston with a jet kit to run race gas. with a race cam,I can also send in the heads to to have them all rebuilt. They said all this would over double the horse power. but I'm not sure if that will beat my brother. doing all this would cost me about 1,000 bucks. so my question is does any one think this is enough to win or is there any other suggestions? The other question is, is There a cheaper way to do it through a different company?

you talking a z400? i dont see it happening on a 200x on a straight drag. maybe on a closed course perhaps. powroll makes some awesome products, have been around forever, cant say anything bad about them. but theres so many ways to set up them x's and so many different mods to do to them, but i just dont see an x beating a z400.

I dont know... Its possible. I have a 15 tooth front sprocket and its suprisingly fast. According to one of thoes Your Speed Is: signs it will do 62 mph with no engine modification. But thats with 22'' tires and I normally run 20s to even the ratio out. If you had some engine work and geared it right you could do it. But it would be easier just to enjoy the 200x for what it is and get a 350x 250r or tecate and whoop the 400s. (350x will need a little work)
hola gringo! ol 200x will need some WORK to take out a 400, and if ou can get all those goodies from powroll for 1000 you need to jump on it, but ask yourself this, if ou had 1000 to spend on parts and sold the X you could most likely buy you a decent running 250R and lay the smack DOWN on the 400's and be done with it.

I have thought about just buying a faster bike but that would be to easy. My brother would then have won and I cant let the little brother talk smack. I cant bring myself to sell the 200x because it has sentimental value. I just put allot of money in it cosmetically so it looks cool it just needs the power. the last thing is we go to Pizmo to ride at the doons allot and it bogs down going up, So even before this competition came about I wished it had more power.

This is a stab in the dark but........ Curtis Sparks......... I don't know if he will still work on the 200X motor.. Back in the day he was building and riding 200X thumpers that could smoke a 250R... I could never afford the whole motor from him, but I got a HUGE carb from him, put it together with a cam and pipe and that thing hauled...... He made a nice short track tank for the X too...
Here's the advice every body on the board is going to bombard you with very soon.
Keep the 200X and ride for what it is.Use the $1,000 to buy the best production 3 wheeler "250R" to ever grace this earth.

I called a few months ago, they won't touch it..
What a shame, they have the knowledge. I really wish someone there loved ATC's and then I bet they'd do it.

Ltz 400's run very well in stock form. In fact i believe that they are currently the best ALL AROUND quad made for the average rider who want's to do it all. They have lots of low grunt for trails but also have the power to drive them without much trouble through sand and over big dunes. And i am talking stock. As well as a machine that doubles your displacement and has liquid cooling and four valves driven directly off the cams! A 200cc engine is just to small to accomplish everything reliably, stock or even highly modified. Sometimes us 3wheeler guys need to accept that our old 2 valve four trikes are still awesome machines, but are no match for todays big displacement high revving machines. However, as already mentioned, buy a 250 2 stroke and have some fun.
