2 gen tecate. Original owner. $$cheap

I got a line on one. Original owner. Actually is an old friend of mine. This is a very low hour machine. Extremely clean. He has extra set of OEM plastic in sweet condition and a whole front wheel set up.

It pooped a ring a few years back, all it would need is a piston and jug/and or sleeve.

Im not sure on the exact year but it has the radiator on the trips and a rear disc brake. Im going to look at it this week sometime. I can probably pick it up for under $400.

Anything to look for? How much does piston and jug cost? I will get some pics later. Thanks for any help and or advice.

Its a first gen 84/85 Tecate if the rad is on the trips. Honestly its a downgrade from the R you have.

An 84 has the drum brake on front and the 85 has a front disc.

Check for spark.

Would I have to get a new jug or just sleeve this one? I figured if its as mint as he says it is other that needing a new top end 3-400 sounds like a decent deal. Im aware of the spark issues. Anything else?

You can just sleeve that one. Wiesco makes a sleeve and piston kit for it. Hey if the other set of plastic is in good shape give me a shout. Thanks

Replating the cylinder is a better way to go on the jug. All tecates had nikasil plated cylinders.

Indeed, have it replated if at all possible. If it's in as good a shape as he described it to be, sounds like a very fair price. Having to invest money into our older trikes is just a fact of life to keep them going. So go for it, and save another T3 from extinction.

You can also get in touch w/ Cory Sprock. He has 300cc top ends for T3s. he also has billet cool heads. I know he makes them for 84/85 and for 86/86. I know a few on the boards run them, im sure they will speak up if you post a question.

Yes Sprock can do up that jug for ya. No Biggie and it wont be that pricey to do from him.Give me a call on that.You know who to call,,,for more info dont ya,,,,,:lol: .The Tecate man:D
