I needed an AB lid and ended up winning a complete AB with a K+N filter for 34$.
Honestly, what advantage does a K+N filter have besides better air flow?
Are they good for a certain type of riding?
Do they need a special oil?
Can they be used in wet conditions?
And last, I think an Outerware or Pre whatever is the way to go correct??
MOST IMPORTANT!!
What size is that filter? I'd like to order an Outerware immediately and Dennis Kirk only sells the K+N and not the correct cover.....:wondering
But, they have universal ones that need a length, neck size and outside diameter.
If someone had the part number that would fit or a similar model filter I can cross, that would be sweet.
Thanks for any help :D

In extreme dust you're probably better off with a Uni but for anything else K&N's work great. I've had one on my R since I got it 18 years ago (same filter even) and it's never let me down. I've ridden in everything from mud to snow to sand to dusty desert. You do have to oil them correctly though. The oil comes in a spray can and you can get it pretty much anywhere. Probably even an auto zone type store would have it. Just when you apply it, make sure you get it from all angles.

I ran a k&n on my street bike and have one on my trx450r now. Never had to replace en just clean em. They do require a special cleaner and oil. You can get the complete cleaning kit from rockymountain atv Or try E-bay.. Well in both my cases it was money well spent!! Nice gains in acceleration and not to mention more power.. Just be aware that you may have to jet larger to compensate for the increased airflow.

I forgot to mention the outerwear is the way to go.,. I run one on the filter and on "air box cover in dusty conditions."
