Hello, as most of you know i just got a 1983 185S project, well i have come by a 1985 200S (runs, drives, and doesnt look that bad) well he wants $450 for it... but he will take $100 off if i trade my 185S. so it would be my 185S+$350
here are some :pics: of it.

I would'nt do it ! That 200s would be fair but I see the OEM plastic's are busted up and personally in my opinion the '83 185S is a more rare machine .I've had dozen's of trike's and out of those only had 2 '83 185S's.I put your money into the 185S ,Just my 2 cent's.Here's a pic of an '83 I did in the winter..

i would do it. just because the 185 looks in worse shape. if the 200s runs and shifts good i say why not. id tell him 250.00 plus the 185 for it. but on other hand around here you cant touch any trike for under 3 or 400 bucks. do what your gut says to do.
good luck man

that why i am thinking about it, it is in better shape and it runs! (i REALLY want to drive something!!!) i offerd him $200+185s and he said he wants $350+185S, but if i deside to get it i will offer him $300+185S

My opinion:
I'd go for the 200s, just think they look better...that one needs work but nowhere near the work for your 185...and the 200s runs/rides. Try to get it for 300 and put a little into the cosmetics if you want.

Does the 185s turn over and does it run or is it close to running? If it is, i wouldnt do it. I think the 185s is definately worth more than $100 even though its a little rough. If you can afford to pay the $450 i would just do that and keep both of them, and if you cant afford to have both you should be able to easily sell that 185s for more than $100.

I have started quite a few without recoils by wrapping a light rope around the cage that sticks out and pulling the rope. If you try this make sure you only wrap the rope around a few times, because if you dont pull the rope all the way out and off it will wind up if the motor starts. Dont wrap the rope arould your hand either, just kinda hold onto it lightly. I still think that its worth a little more than 100$ so i dont think id do the trade. Heck, your not coming to north-central iowa anytime soon, are ya? lol

well i would deffinetally be figuring out a way to get the 200s cause it looks like the 185 is gonna take awhile to get goin good again and if you are rideless that just sucks lol, but i dont know about gettin rid of the 185 for $100 i would find a way to scrounge up the extra 100 and either part the 185 and make more off it or just keep it for a project bike, unless he wants to give u a little more for it....
edit: oh and by the way, what hondahaulic said about wrapping a rope around the cage that sticks out where the recoil goes works quite well, my buddy has to do it every time to start his old beat up ytm cause he has no recoil either, but if its not running and hasnt in awhile that will be a huge pain in the azz by the time u do get it going but its worth a try if u got the energy, lol.. if u do get it running im sure he would give u more money for it, or u could sell it for more then take that plus the 350 u were gonna spend and get a nicer trike..

if you have a little time, access to tools, and some basic mechanical knoledge i'd get it running and looking a little nicer and then sell it. Just fix the bare esentials and try to make it look decent. I think some paint stripper, a recoil, and a little time would make that trike go up in value pretty fast.

i was thinking striping it down to the frame, sandblasting the frame and painting it, cleaning up and polshing the engine, sanding the gas tank and poping the dents out, then painting it, and just go over and fix stuff up. how much do you think that would cost?
i would do the sand blasting my self, and mostlikely useing spray paint cans to do the painting. (i want to do that to the 185S BTW) but i really want some thing to drive well i do that.

well if u have access to all those tools u need to fix it up then just scrounge up the extra hundred for the 200s and keep that 185 as a project bike, or atleast thats what id do, its really not worth lettin it go for a hundo if u have the knowledge and tools to fix er up..

yea dont let it go for 100 bux. its a rip!! they guy is just tryn to flip a profit.think about it. all the 185 needs is a paint job, recoil, maybe some other minor work. after he does that he would be getting about 4 honey out of it after he got it for 1 honey. just my 2 cents on the matter. keep it and try to buy the 200s.
