When I first joined here last year, I was just days away from selling my Tri-Z. The guy came to pick it up and didn't feel it was worth $1000, but he had seen the TRX250R that I restored to new condition in Dirt Wheels and suggested I do the same to the Tri-Z. So it stayed. The resto hasn't officially started yet, but I did put a new top end in and replaced the seat cover and foam. So after twelve years of sitting and collecting dust, she's loaded in the trailer for our annual trip to Silver Lake. Here's a few pics.

That is one clean Tri-Z and surely the buyer must have been on drugs to pass it up.
Needs some Tri-Z stickers to make it perfect!

that was me who came out. It was a pleasure to meet you Rich and glad to see you kept your tri-z and cleaned it up quite a bit. It was no where near that nice last year, new plastic, tires, seat and did you get that axle straght? It was a miss understanding that one of my friends from another web site gave me your # and said you were asking $800. or bo. Great job on your Tri-z! You have to come out some time..:beer

Yeah, I did add the rear fender, snagged the rear tires off my '07 450R, picked up a front and a few odds and ends. But other than that and ALOT of cleaning, she looks pretty good. I forgot all about a spare axle I had, I found it one day while digging in the attic. I've got to thank you for not taking it, I know there was a miscommunication between you and Jawzy. I think I would still be regretting selling it. Next step is powder coating the frame this winter, and going over the whole thing. By the way, it really held it's own drag racing at Silver Lake. :TrikesOwn

That's a beautiful Tri-Z.
Is it true about the 85s though, they were more prone to blowing up?
The reason I ask is cause I restored an 86 for a guy and he'd said that he'd had an 85 back in the day and that he got rid of it cause they were harder to keep together.

I don't think so. He probably saw how big a mistake it would be to sell it if it was his. :TrikesOwn What a nice guy.
