Tried to beat it off with a hammer and screwdriver didi ya??!!!! Yes it can be fixed. Any decent welding shop will fix it. Price?????? depends on the shop!

No, this was when I was putting it back on Bill! I put a washer on the wrong spot on the impeller rod, and the cover wouldn't go back on right...I figured it didn't want to slide over the dowel pin, so I put 3 bolts in at that area and starting tightening them down little by little, next thing I know CRACK............

1. Never force anything!!

Some of those are magnesium or cast aluminum. It can be welded by a good shop but thats a tough area. Your dealing with water and oil leaks so it has to be absolutely flat when it cools off from welding.

Yes it can,

I just had the clutch cover welded on my 250r, it had been welded before up by the water pump. I took it to a friend of mine that welds on aluminum cattle trailers. It cost me a CASE of Coors Light to get it welded. Before I had thought about him I checked at a local machine shop and they told me who the best aluminum welders were.

that is a pot metal on my 200x the chain came off and broke the case and since my dads a welder he could fix it but most shops wont do it because its not a real metal you can weld if you know how to oxy accletting weld then that would probably work but i dont know

So you saying use OxCetylne welding and use the copper rod sticks to fill in? And like you said, this crap doesn't seem like "real" metal, more like some kind of cheap remake or something.

usually they break up by the kickstarter. A local guy (aluminum welder) here welded mine, and I got a few more years out of it. He charges $30 + shipping, of course. New ones sell for about $100.00.

My vote is to not be cheap and buy a newq one and forget all of the hassle. Keep it real ! :D

There's a difference between being cheap, and being smart. I'm being smart, why go out and spend 100 dollars on a new case when I can have this one welded for 1/3 the price? Maybe even free if my shop teacher can weld it?

i say you try the OxCetylne what would it hurt you can always grind it off and try to take it somewhere

Tig weld it oxyacetoline welding is the wrong type of weld. :rolleyes:
